Hey denizens of Stickpage! Haven't posted here in awhile (been animating of course).
I just released my newest stick fight "Gildedguy vs Bog", and since a lot of you had great feedback for my previous battle, I would love your thoughts on this one. Hopefully I improved.
I watched this thing like 5 times looking for something to critique and I just couldn't. It's awesome, that's it. I mean, if I really wanted to be a nitpicking assface I could mention the number of stars in the sky being inconsistent after Gilded destroys the cave, but who gives a shit. You should be proud.
Wow... Just wow. As always gildedguy, you blow my socks off with your animations. Extremely well done, and keep up the amazingly good and hard work! Unfortunately I have no CnC since I'm no animator and I don't know much about that, but I thought I'd let you know how much I enjoyed this piece.
The best dang stick fight I've ever seen. Better than anything. Well done mate.
I mean, I could try to find some really small errors, but it's just amazing. The bar has been raised 500%.
5:51-5:54 is the best animation scene I've seen that isn't fullbody.
Hey Gildedguy, I'm not usually big on animation but this was incredible. I can't point out critique on the animation aspect, so here's my thoughts on the other parts:
There were just some parts that left me unclear what was going on. Like at 1:40 where Gildedguy's armor starts reaching out after the people he cares about in his memories. What's happening here? Is it symbolism that by reaching out to his good memories for comfort, he's trying to ensnare them and suck them dry? I don't really know even after rewatching the whole animation many times (because it's so good I had to enjoy it again).
The other part that confused me was a thing near the end: Gildedguy's armor overtaking Bog seemed to be a huge moment of Gildedguy not being able to be hurt by him anymore, but Bog just broke free of the armor right away so I couldn't grasp what had been accomplished there. Bog just sort of easily breaks out... and then immediately gives up. Not to say I would know better, but I would have imagined Bog struggling to break out and being unable to; giving up just like Gildedguy did when he was swallowed by the goo, until Gildedguy chose to release him and gave his unspoken offering of peace.
It's just my thoughts, and my confusions aren't questions to be answered rather than them being points where you could improve your silent storytelling skillz. But I thoroughly enjoyed this
I have lost track of how many times i have watched this video in just 3 days. The only thing i could spot was that at 3:10 the light from the fire was in the wrong direction but it later changes when it is a full shot. This is some profesional work.
