Sports require different skills, like endurance, speed, reflexes, etc. Nobody can say that any of those are "harder" than the other because they're all extremely difficult to work at perfecting, and how hard that is is something defined person-to-person. People might suck with endurance but can run short lengths extremely quickly, it just depends on what's hardest for them. As a whole I don't think you can really define anything as the "hardest" for that reason.

Though personally I do agree that certain types of MMA are probably the most complicated and difficult to master, because rather than a sport, most of them interconnect with your daily living, and require a new type of lifestyle and discipline to truly get the most out of it.

Well put. I agree.

No, it's just my opinion. If you've ever seen this sport in real life, you gain a great appreciation for it.

Players, if you watched the video, need to keep the ball in play and all in one motion. As the ball is released around 90 mph, it bounces back off the wall. The other team has to keep that speedy ball in play AND give it more speed to defeat the opposing team. The sheer strength required is quite amazing. Your reflexes and strength need to be in perfect synchronization. Your teammates also need to be able to rely on each other in a fraction of a second.

The watered down version for those who watched jackass: These guys throw the ball REALLY fast. They do it without pausing since they need to do it in one motion. Therefore, the regular pitch would be faster then what you saw on jackass. The danger is always present of instantly shattering a bone if you get hit.

I agree with sly elf. I forgot to point out how football requires skill and deception. It's mind games and on the field you have to use both mental and physical endurance.

I think it's soccer or basketball or other team games. Not only do you need to be strong, think fast and be fit, you also have to be a good team player, and this is actually rather hard.
In most other sports you only rely on yourself, and what you do is pretty monotone. When you swim there's a straight course set up for you, nothing unsuspected happens, you only needs to be physically fit.

In say basketball, new things happen every second. For example when you have th ball you need to know your surroundings perfectly, know where your teammates are. Who's in a good posistion to be passed the ball to? Should you pass the ball at all? Should you shoot? Should you go for a lay up? There's thousands of things to keep in mind. Your teammates are always moving, your opponents are always moving.

I'd say that's harder than getting from one place to another as fast as you can, or jumping high.

I would have to say that long distance running is the hardest sport. Just because of the sheer dedication required. Every day your muscles are extrememely taxed, your lungs/heart etc. Not to mention the sheer damage to your tendons and joints. And it's also mentally taxing because you want to stop running but you need to keep going. And you have to be very mentally strong to run it, especially races, because its just you, its only you, and you have only yourself to push you forward.

Blah.

Lacrosse is a pretty hard sport. I'm not just saying that because I play it, but it really is a hard sport to play. It requires all of the skill that you need for games like soccer, but you also need to have good stick control (which takes a lot of hard work) and strength. You also run just as much as you do in a soccer game, but you also have to be running in pads and a helmet which weigh you down a bit, and make you a lot hotter on warm days. The hardest part of the game is your stick skills which take years to get really good at. You couldn't just walk to a field, explain the rules to a friend, and expect them to be able to play. It takes months to be able to have enough stick control to play a real game.

I definitely wouldn't say that it's more difficult than any form of martial arts because I realize how much discipline and dedication that it takes, but as far as team sports go, I'd say it's up there.

But I always thought that running was harder than curling. :Nooooooo:

I probably just missed the point there. Or I didn't but at the same time didn't address it.

I think football is more painful than running. Even though there are pads to protect, you can still knock the wind outta people and break limbs. Pads don't stop bruising. As a football player I think football is up there with the painful sports but as I've heard, Martial Arts is more painful. So MA, must be the most.

My Taekwondo class is goddamn painfull, especially streching and sparring.

But after you fell really good.
