The popular vote, last I checked (an hour before the final results) was 51% AND 49%

That's ridiculously close, though Obama had many more electoral votes

Kitsune, I think people shouldn't even point that fact out.

So what, the first (even though he wasnt) black president. Woopdy do.

I agree. Race shouldn't even be mentioned.

Why shouldn't race be mentioned? Do you think a black man could even think about running for president 60 years ago? That it is possible now signifies a change in people's minds, an extremely important and good change in my opinion.

Now we're gonna have to wait a few weeks to see if he gets assassinated or not.

Oh great.

Well, why would be the race the first thing to notice and keep being mentioned? It still signifies racism in a very subtile form IMHO. Why can't be a person just be a person with no predicates?

That would be the ideal, yes. But we can't get there in one big jump, it goes gradually. I think this victory was a step in that direction.

also, :)

Because for over a century ago people with a funny color were slaved just because of that. We have gone a long way since the day the first slave was shipped from Africa into America. Now we have a African American president who will probally kill a majority of racism.

This is big for the destruction of races.

And still, I say woopdy frieking doo that we have a black president.

I honestly don't care what color or race he is.

Give me the best president that will completely fix the economy and just make the U.S. as a whole a better country and lets everyone cheer we have the best, not the most distinguished.

And BTW; did anyone notice Obama won twice as many electoral votes as Mccain, and he had 333 votes?

2 x 333 = 666

Great job, we just opened the gates to hell. The white house shall soon be known as the governmental sacrificial house of the once free.

Sure the race doesn't matter when it comes to the issues, but when it comes to the American population and History this is a big event.
