Think of everything you ever did wrong. Count them. Then think: you wouldn't consider each one and think "It was entirely my fault. I am a complete ass." You'd be optimistic about these things. Instead of putting yourself down, you'd think "Sure I messed up, but it could've gone a lot worse." So don't put people down for doing exactly what you would if you were in that situation.

My mum was at the top of the stairs holding me, as a baby, and two mugs of coffee. She slipped and fell, landed on her back, caught me, and caught both mugs. She had to go to hospital for a couple weeks. She didn't spill a drop of the coffee, though.

Well, one day I was standing over a flight of stairs with my baby in my hands and I was holding two other cups of coffee, one for me and one for the baby, and then I suddenly fell down the stairs, silly me, and managed to catch my baby, and since the cups of coffee would be so damn important for me in the future, I caught those too somehow while falling down the stairs, and didn't spill one drop. The baby was alright but I had to go to the hospital for a couple of weeks.

It really isn't an excuse. I've been drunk before and I've not been cheating on my girlfriend. Really, if you got any sort of honourable mindstrength, you don't cheat on her under any kind of influence.
