I don't really now how to say this, but from what I get, you guys think that all climate shifts are caused by something, right?
If I'm wrong, then this makes no point at all, but here goes nothing.

Most people think the climate on earth should be one flat line in a graph.

Like this:
---------------------------------------

While, I think, the earth's climate is kind of a curving line keeping itself in some sort of balance. Starting with immense heatwaves in it's beginning then having ice ages. Right now, we're probably getting some of the heat back, stolen from us in the little ice age.

Interesting hypothesis and I'm sure an interesting metaphore to aid in the understanding of small children. It is, nevertheless, wrong in every important respect.

Once the heat is gone it's out radiated out into space and never coming back. Then new heat arrives from the sun and may get trapped by CO2 or may go out into space like the stuff before it. Unfortunately on a timescale such as this where there isn't long enough for the second law of thermodynamics to play out across the entire universe we can't borrow energy here and pay it back there.

Damn, you guys take my posts too literal.

I get it that we can't get our previous heat back, I'm not 5.

A chicken getting his head chopped is something completely different, for both the farmer and the chicken are alive.
And I haven't seen our planet be alive in that way.

I don't see how that makes any difference. The chicken and the farmer is a very common fallacy, and you have fallen for it. It simply isn't correct to assume because something has happened in a certain way several times before, it will always happen in that certain way. There are countless of unpredictable factors determining the outcome of every situation, and we cannot know them all. When the average temperature of the world miraculously rise proportionally with our industry and release of CO2, however, it is not too far fetched to assume the two things are related. Especially when a rise of the CO2 ratio in the atmosphere is a reasonable explanation for the rise in temperature.

Also, the air wouldn't suddenly be pumped up with CO2. We've been going at it for couple hundred years, yes it increased, but it didn't show any signs back then. No, it gave us a little ice age.

Also, I just want to say that I do believe in global warming, it is there, but only one percent or so of it is 'man-made'. We help it a little, yes of course we do, but it's not like it can be stopped.

I don't get why the air wouldn't suddenly be pumped up with CO2? Isn't it obvious that when we suddenly release a shitload of CO2, the air gets "pumped up" with it? As Zed has already pointed out, it didn't happen over night. The release of CO2 has exponentially increased for the past one and a half century or so. The graph he showed looked like this:

In the context of 4.5 billion years, though, it is sudden.

Also, when you base your argument on the idea that we will get back the heat "stolen" from us, obviously that's what he has to respond to. If he responding to something else he'd be putting words in your mouth.

Stop trying to tie us up with riddles then. If talking to you is going to be like breaking an enigma each time you post of course we'll get it wrong.

State your point literally in a way which is not open to interpretation so that I can destroy it efficiently, otherwise it's like trying to argue that a scromet cannot possibly exist when no one will tell you what it is.

Alive, you're twisting my words there.
I didn't say it would always be like that, I just believed that it was very plausible.

Also, thanks for that graph, didn't see that one.
Only one I saw was that of 1950 or something, where it suddenly pumped up.
Now I get it. *converts, lol*

Oh yeah, zed, you're acting like a kid. Stop it.

How am I acting like a kid? I am taking your posts literaly because it's hard to get tones for sarcasm across on the internet. If you want us to understand you you need to say what you mean literally.

I don't really think he was being serious. You can't infer his intelligence from the fact that he made a joke.

The "dumbass" bit was, in my opinion, unnecessary. Dumbarse would have been acceptable.
