Irony: difference between expectation and reality.
Example: "I sure am going to enjoy this chocolate cake."
"OM NOM NOM"
"there is a piece of metal in this. How ironic."

Correct Usage:
"In an ironic twist, a cop was indicted today on murder charges"

I don't mean to interfere with your orders, but it's just annoying when people use it wrong.
It's not "opposite of what you actually do expect", it is a state that is only revealed after something happened. It's opposite of what you would not have expected. Yes, that's a huge difference. :/

Quote from KitsuneIdea:
When mods ban you they could have the option to change your signature in the infraction page. The reason they type into the textfield will be set in front of the string: "THIS USER WAS BANNED FOR:" and the whole thing will be bolded and changed to red. The reason will then be on every post the user has on the forum and everyone who first notices through post examination will know the reason immediately.
example:
Myself is banned for "Trolling"
His sig changes to: "THIS USER WAS BANNED FOR: Trolling"
Less work for the mods, less work for the members, just an alteration to the infraction system, which I think this forum's software is capable of.
good idea?
I'm to understand that NO ONE likes this idea?
Because I thought it was pretty solid.

the problem there is that the admins have to do extra work to make it happen
Apr 18, 2009 7:21 AM #399166
when you're banned your signature disappears, so that idea isn't practical.
