The problem with using pain as a part of gameplay is that fewer people would want to play. Video games are meant to be a way to immerse yourself into a dangerous situation without being in any real danger.

One idea I've been kicking around for a while is simulated textures. You could have on gloves with a small ball at different pressure points, such as the tip of your fingers and your palms, and these pins would simulate the texture of objects.

I like it. I like it a lot. We're going to run out of positions on the board for Stickpaigans.

Haha. I considered the way this could be done a lot when I tried writing a book called "Virtual Battles" back in the 7th grade, and the thought came up again and again for a long time.

We need to make this. Srs.

A game where you can actually run around and interact with things your way would be awesome. Also it would be fun to punch those annoying 10 yearolds in the face. Literally.

:D

You seem to read my mind.

Also, we wouldn't be able to choose our looks, we would just look the way we actually look. And you could wear the armor or weapons that, well, you feel comfortable with in real life, it also depens on your physical abilities.

But I think at first, we could make some tests of the console, like, create mini games. Like tennis, woodcutting, etc.

Sorry for double post, but I was wondering...

If you're in a ball, how can you jump down in the game?

Also, guys, start learning programming.

Just jump off the edge in the game, the in game gravity will pull you down. Physically you'd just be jumping.

The problem here is that we have no way to simulate weightlessness, so some of the immersion would be lost. You'd feel the impact of your legs hitting the real ground, but would see yourself still falling.

It's one way of doing it, although I think running on a ball would feel less realistic. I had envisiged boots being part of the system with pistons holding them in the correct place and sensors that felt which direction you were applying pressure in to move the feet in that direction.

Weightlessness couldn't be totally simulated, but you could get closer by spreading the weight out to the rest of the machine, so that your arms, chest, and arse were taking a portion of the weight off your feet.

Something like that (even though that one is fake) would simulate movement.

Thank you. That made all the difference in the world. I was going to kill myself, but after seeing your post, I may just cure cancer.
