@unDagada & Lixu: Just wanted to say that if you notice that the storyline for your animations are very similiar, it's because the one unDagada is doing is to say "these are the skills that we're going to teach you" and the one Lixu is doing is to say "these are the skills that we just taught you."

that's a very interesting way of saying it. I suppose you're right on that >.>

...Rawgreen what are you doing here.

Quote from Lixu:/ That's a bummer, so he's going to rip away my money and animations after all?
I have an idea, stop being a selfish prick.
It's not about the money it's about helping these kids get support from the tragic event of having their parents getting divorced.
I would do this for free if I knew it was helping someone.
People like you really piss me off, stop being so self-centered, and start CARING about what you are actually toward...
Probably about as mad as I have been on this site yet.
Does anyone else at least feel something when they see this greedy of a person..?

@ Genocide Even though it seems certain that your heart is in the right place and I've really appreciated how supportive you have been of the project, I can't help but jump to the defense of Lixu and just say that he's been doing great work for the program.
I think everyone likes the idea of getting paid for doing something they love (I remember getting my parents to pay me a dollar per wasp's nest removed so I could call myself a professional bee-killer) but I haven't got the sense at all that Lixu is into this for the money. He's been really active in trying to meet the needs of the program.
Again Genocide, I hear you, I also really hate selfish people with screwed up priorities (probably more than most people do). I just don't think Lixu is one of them.
To all, animations are starting to come in and they're looking really cool. Should have some links for you to look at by the end of next week.

Dude, seriously, I was just joking you ****ed up moron. It's not of your concerns anyways so why don't you shut the **** up. I'm just happy I can animate and make money with it without any competition, but then I thought stone came in and stole all my chances of getting money and making animations, so I just asked Jesse on msn if that was the case which is not. You don't need to bother me about being greedy you dickwat.

woahh slow down with the arguments guys.
jesse. ive read the whole thread, you're programme looks really good and i like the way you've put yourself saying what's written on screen in, because sometimes it is just boring reading. but anyway, since you don't mind nitpicking, in the slide where you click emotions you may feel etc, the grammar at the bottom is wrong in the 'tired' icon. it should either say 'in Cod-Cod we'll' or 'Cod-Cod will' you've done 'in Cod-Cod will'.
hope you achieve what you'd like for this programme. you've set out a good opportunity for a few animators and i'm surprised (in a good way) that you came to SPP for this since a violent stick animation site seems like the last place someone would go for this sort of thing :P. really hope this succeeds since you clearly have a good heart since you're spending your own time and money with no thought of making any yourself. i commend you :)

@Jesse, I'm sticking around cause I'm curious. Just wondering this one thing, what's your opinion on using full body animation?
Jun 13, 2009 6:44 PM #439147
@ fitzy, thanks so much for you encouragment (and editiorial assistance). Doing this project has been a really long process and it's always nice to get some boosts along the way. Also, I made the change you recommended. It's so hard for me to catch everything because I'm always trying to move on to the next thing.
Glad you liked the audio, I wound up adding that after pilot testing the program with some kids in my target age range. They definitely didn't like all the reading. Once I get the animations to go along with the text I think those swfs will be really effective. (or at least I hope)
And as for coming to SPP, I think it's probably mostly a product of the fact that I really like the fight sequences. I think pretty much everyone does. Plus, it seems like to make a fight interesting you have to throw in little suprise details anyway (like a spear thrown through someones head, or a rope that bad guys rappel down, or matrix style sequences mid-fight) and that's sort of similiar to how I want the program's animations to wind up.
Oh, plus I think people on this site love animating and that's a real plus.
@RawGreen, glad you're curious. I am too. Can't wait to see more of the animations that are coming in and I'll be sure to post animations as they're finished.
I think that full body animation is great and can be really interesting. The reason why I didn't consider it a viable option for this project is because it seemed like it would be too time consuming for the animator. Plus, even though I can imagine full body style allowing some things that would be impossible with stick figures, I do like the simplicity of the stick figures. It seems like it accentuates the details that are included and leaves the rest to the imagination... which I kind of like.

You obviously don't get the point of this entire project, which is pretty sad.

I agree with you. The point of this is to help kids dealing with their parents divorce. The only things I've seen Lixu post is how much money he is going to make, or whether he is really getting paid for it. But the sad thing is, being a bad person doesn't make you bad at animating.
Jun 15, 2009 4:10 AM #440279
lol flood and genocide, animating a small short isnt directly helping kids deal with these problems, they are something the OP wants to use to make it more fun for them. It's extra. Regardless of its meaning, someone wanting to make money doing it isnt a crime, lol. Still, cussing in this thread is really uncalled for, and should be left to private messages.

LOL I don't know if you were actually describing anything in particular, but it really sounds like you were describing the animation I made a while back: http://www.stickpage.com/xiaostylelabplay.shtml
(even if it wasnt you should say yes for brownie points =) ) you are correct that you need at least a bit of imagination to make it interesting, so i see where you're coming from.
