Wow, this thread is still alive... Well, I think that men and women are equal. If a woman wants to attack a man for some reason a man CAN defend himself.

You shouldn't hit girls because unless they are threatening with a long-range weapon (which is not the day-by-day case, obviously) you should be able to disarm imobilise them. You are strong enough not to panic and start hitting her. That also applies to fighting men. Hitting people is needless. There are more efficient ways to save yourself when you're attacked and safer for both you and the attacker, not to mention law is shallow on self-defence nowadays. Let's have my country for example: Law is so confused about who is the criminal and who's the victim and so careless to investigate that lots of innocent people get in prison. By not causing any corporal damage you keep yourself out of risk. There are more advantages to defence ((Law) the right to defend one's person, family, or property against attack or threat of attack by the use of no more force than is reasonable) than fighting back violently.
