By our standards Obama is much further right than the conservatives and may well be on a par with the BNP, if not beyond simply on the basis that even they wouldn't get rid of the NHS. And I wouldn't call Britain especially socialist.

That protest at DC was amazing. Couple of my families' friends went up to it and called us and told us all about it. They said it was invigorating and was nice to be around republicans and democrats with the same views. They also took a picture of it on their phone to show all the people, I think there was like 10,000 or something? Obama needs to realize that there is opposition to this health care bill and if the vote in the House and Senate was so close, should maybe want to second guess his decision. And with the elections coming up in 2010 he may not have the same power that he has now.

However narrow a margin, the majority want it. If the majority want it, it happens. That's how democracy works. There is oposition to it, but there is even stronger opposition to those opposers.

Either out of a lack of understanding of business, or just a want of control, Obama's trying to spend his way out of the recession. It's like paying for your house with a credit card. If that isn't "screwing", or just taking a toll on something, im not sure what would.
