Zofar, business 101: You have to spend money to make money.
Nov 30, 2009 11:52 PM #519613
Quote from ZofarEither out of a lack of understanding of business, or just a want of control, Obama's trying to spend his way out of the recession. It's like paying for your house with a credit card. If that isn't "screwing", or just taking a toll on something, im not sure what would.
Nonononono.
Recession is when there isn't enough money circulating in the economy. Government spending increases the ammount of money in the economy, thus reducing the recession. Government debt is a completely seperate issue, and one which cannot be dealt with effectively during a recession.

Money isn't free to get however. There is a set ammount of gold in the bank (that each dollar represents) and printing money would simply water down each dollar's value. Taxing is a poor method to use as well, as it isn't generating money, just taking it out of people's pockets.
Just not spending money, and lowering taxes, would allow business to thrive, thus allowing them to get more money from other countries, pumping blood into the economy.
@ash
Spending money to make money only works if your spending it to make money, rather than spending it to follow the "green" gimmick, or giving free health care to illegal immigrants from mexico.

Ya, but i've nothing else to do, cause my flash comp is down till tuesday.
Edit: Besides, im not argueing that businesses dont spend money to make money, if obama were doing good things with america's money, like founding new gold mines, or even just something for the good of man's future (like funding nasa instead of environmentalists) I might approve of him.

Are you shitting me? Funding NASA instead of environmentalists? You would rather see if tiny little bacteria are frozen in Mars' ice caps than saving the earth from an impending doom?

No, i would rather see man expanding outside of his hole, becoming a multi-planet, multi-solar system empire instead of a tiny spec in the canvas of life.
And there isn't any proof that the earth is "heating up" as last year, it snowed for the first time in 30.

Well for one thing, environmental help isn't limited to just global warming. Two, according to you, we shouldn't be spending money on excess funds. Do you honestly think that at this point in time, we should still be devoting money to trying to expand our knowledge outside of this planet? No one's saying NASA shouldn't be funded, but in a time of recession, it's probably not something that we should be putting so high up on our priorities.

I don't see you trying to debate, less you count recalling your past like a friggin grampa "debating". What kind of name ARE YOU giving Republicans, if your gonna let the dems gang up on the younger Rep's, then pat themselves on their backs for it.
edit: gavel, i was stating that if he is gonna throw money down the toilet anyway, it might as well go for a nice cause.

because preventing global warming isn't a nice cause
Dec 1, 2009 1:28 PM #519770
Give me some evidence of global warming (evidence approved of by non-environmentalists).
Dec 1, 2009 6:38 PM #519808
There's a shitload of evidence that's been published in all scientific peer reviewed journals. If you consider all of these sources environmentalist then the only reason is because anyone who's seen the evidence instantly realises that something needs to be done.
