As you probably heard about the Fort Hood shooting, the shooter was a Muslim. So should Muslims not be allowed to serve in the army?

Why would religious practices really make a difference for enlistment? Cristian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu...what difference does it make? All are people who, if they aren't just conscripted, are willing to fight and maybe die for their country. Unless it's a religious war. Then feel free to bar people based on religion.

Wait, so a muslim kid shooting up some place (Im assuming its a kid who shot up a school since I haven't heard of the Ford Hood shooting) could make the entire muslim religion unable to join the US army?
There's no arguement.

Well this is just one crime involving a Muslim criminal (but there can be many more). Come on, there are millions of criminals who commit crime who also follow a religion whether its Christianity, Buddhism whatever. Yet the people who follow those religion aren't discriminated and are allowed to join the army. SO why can't Muslims join? It's just religion by the way, it doesn't control every aspects of ones life.

So what about the white guy that went on a rampage and stole a tank running over cars and endangering homes in San Diego? Guess white people can't serve either.

You guys are idiots. While I agree that the fact that the person was muslim does not suffice as reason for not letting muslims join the army, your analogies are still stupid. During these past few years tensions between muslim countries and the united states has only been rising, and it's not really that outlandish to argue that muslims is the demographic with the highest percentage of people hostile to the states. Thus, you can't really compare a muslim to "the white guy" or "americans". Still, denying someone entry into the army based on religion is a serious violation of basic human rights.

Ever heard of separation of church and state? We can't do shit based on a person's religion, as long as they meet the requirements for joining the army, and with good reason.

Law wins. You suck.

Agreed. Would a better analogy be the serving of Irish troops in the British army? Because they tend to do a damn good job, and not letting them in would remove a large ammount of possible manpower for the military, plus when British troops are serving in Ireland the locals feel much less resistant if it's their countrymen trying to improve the situation rather than a foreign occupier trying to quell freedom fighters.
