I'm aware of the other thread (here), but it doesn't seem all that lively. So I'll make a new one with some basic information about the game, instead of bumping the other thread again.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD.

Launch trailer.

Classes:
Soldier
Adept
Engineer
Sentinel
Vanguard
Infiltrator

Scy vs Fy - Contains a lot of spoilers
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

As many will know, Mass Effect 2 continues from where ME1 left off. Although there is a small portion missing between the games, it can be covered in one of the books.
So, as it's on the same story, you keep the character you completed the first with, if you want. It works quite simply.
Video on it here.

All editions of the game come with the Cerberus network card, which just allows you to get the DLC for the game from release. Much like Dragon Age: Origin's system. It's mainly there to reduce the amount of pre-owned buys.

There are 10 (11 including DLC) party characters. You'll need to gain their loyalty throughout the game.
Achievement list.
You'll notice the cheevo for armour customization.

The game is out January 26th/29th.
Since I'll be recieving it at the later date, I won't be able to get a review out as early as I'd like to. But I'll write one up as soon as I can, if I don't, it's just because it's so good that I can't bring myself to spare time from it.

MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE EXCITED FOR THIS

i cant wait, i loved mass effect although it had its problems, and i thought dragon age was absolutly fantastic so i cant wait to see what their going to do new in this one

the only problem i have is that it carries on from the first one, i suppose when its set in space theres a whole host of places it can go but half the fun in it is learning about all the characters and weird alien species, and there cant be a completly new host of alien races and just having the same ones would be boring, it will be interesting how they balance new and old content

Hopefully I get it a little early like I do with most games I pre-order from Game. I can't wait until Friday when people on my FL are playing it already.

I think it carrying over from the first is pretty spiffy. In most games you can do some great things in the first game for it to mean nothing to the second. I, too, am interested in how they'll combine the content. A
Also, a live stream of gameplay at 8PM here; http://www.xfire.com/cms/xf_xfss_me2/
I will play the shit out of this game.

I wanna get dragon age origins. :]
Bioware is awesome.
Too much dialogue that's unskippable though.

For the majority of the dialogue you press X to skip it, on Mass Effect for the 360. Not sure what it is for DA:O, but I skipped loads after the first playthroughs. The only thing that's unskippable in ME are the cut-scenes.

I was considering making a thread for this the other day. Definitely getting it, might still try and preorder it. My only debate is if I should start the campaign of me1 today and try and beat it so I can import my character. Not sure if I want to use the shitty one I beat the game with however long ago I played mass effect

edit: ahhh, nevermind. guess I'll start me2 clean, since I think I loaned the first one to a friend back home

I'd say go for it.
I have a few ME playthroughs I intend to use. I'm going through it with my level 60 Paragon Soldier to start. Then I'll probably go through with my Vanguard, since I took the Renegade route with him.

I'm hoping it's longer than the first, since you could get the story done in less than 17 hours.

Yeah, I'll try and import for a second playthrough. Actually, it could be fun to (for a second try) just go through ME and then follow it up immediately with importing into ME2, although I'll have to rob it back from my friend to do so.
There was so much to do besides the story though in ME, it took me considerably longer

the cutscenes for da and mass effect are half the game, the game would be kind of hollow without them :s

and in da you can press x to skip the dialogue if you were so inclined but you need to listen to them really, i only use it for skipping dialogue ive heard before

Seriously don't buy the game then lol. This is an RPG, 95% of ME1's Beauty was the Dialog/Options/Story. The combat was criticized but not bad, but that's not what the game or ME2 will be about.

Also I bought ME1 2 weeks ago just cause It was 10 bucks and I was gonna buy Me2. And I already played through it 3 times. Vanguard is boring btw, the powers look crap [in me1]. I redid the whole game again just to change class to sentinel cause the powers look good lol [same powers as Van. Too]

But ME2 The combat will def. Be better, but I really hope the story keeps up.

Im not gonna watch the beginning of the game videos though, for a game like this the beginning is half the experience [Not really but you know] And the game is about 35 Hours if you do all the sidequests and missions. Seriously for an RPG you gotta do sidequests and that kinda stuff =D

Im really looking forward to this. I have 2 lvl 30 Chars now, I gotta finish the game again, be bad so that my renegade points fill up and get myself lvl 60. The thing that kinda sucks though is, that there will be no newgame+ (Which was basically the whole replay value of this game. Choosing different Dialog options, and going different paths)

There is a New Game +.

And, yeah, there has been loads of spoilers released because it's been leaked. I've just tried to avoid the majority of them.
