Imagine you were in a enormously large city of towering skylines. The entire place is crowded with dumb, man eating zombies hungry for human flesh and organs. You just happen to stumble upon a cache of weapons of all kind. Ranging from the ancient samurai sword to the modern automatic rifles. You are only allowed to chose one weapon, what will it be?

I prefer scoped rifles over full auto gun. I would get a simple scoped .22, this could easily kill a zombie and the ammo is so small I could carry at minimum 1000 rounds. The ammo is also widely used which increases my chance of finding it after I leave said armory.

is this semi-automatic or bolt action?

I'd carry around a Thompson, and stuff a backpack full of ammo for it. One shot to the head should kill each zombie, and thompsons hold tons of ammo.

Semi-automatic, bolt action would be inefficient when being chased, the gun would also reload with clips.
