I always went by the philosophy, "If we're here, why can't something else be?"

I think the dodos went with that philosophy too.

At a research lab, scientists are watching closely how a sun is getting born, with it's surrounding planets.
The earth was made because of the heat of the sun, and because of the ideal stance in the line of planets. Or at least that's how scientifics believe human life form can be made possible: by heat, not too hot though.
The planet which they are studying now is exactly like earth, with it´s surrounding forms as well. From where we are looking from, the planet is likely a couple of millions of lightyears away from us. So maybe we know the answer in a couple of millions of lightyears :3
But I think there are indeed aliens, but not on mars or so.

Quote from GreenSheenYa, that is a good assumption to make but chances are they're not gonna reveal themselves (well at least try not to) and remain incognito while doing they're studies. My guess is they also wouldn't share they're secrets, seeing as we're dangerous unpredictable creatures to them. Hell I could guarantee we'd attack them if they revealed themselves to us, and then probably get decimated. Yay for human nature eh?
A good video to watch about this is by Dr.Michio Kaku:

I love Michio Kaku. I read Parallel Worlds several years ago, and I bought Physics of the Impossible when it came out. He's great.

I think you need to debate or post somewhere else.

I wonder what kind of other viruses or bacteria may be out there?

There are an infinitely uncountable number of planets, and there are finitely countable planets with life. Therefore, there is no intelligent life in the universe.

i do believe there is life on other planets (or places i guess). i mean, as long as we assume that the universe is infinite, it is almost stupid to believe we are teh only planet [place] that has life. no, i dont believe in little green aliens that say "take us to you master" and harvest our brains and shit....
@ScatMan: who sed the life was intelligent? hell, it could be a plant or something. or a little worm sort-of thing

That's what we're talking about dipshit. Who gives two shits if we find a cactus on Darwin 9?

@ScatMan: "an infinite number of planets, but a finite number of habitable ones." That doesn't make sense. Infinity divided by anything is still infinity.
But that doesn't matter, because any life that is watching us must be inside the distance that light could have traveled to Earth and back in since the beginning of the universe- unimaginably vast, but still finite.

You miss the point. He's not dividing the number of planets by anything. He's dividing the number of inhabited ones by the total number of planets, ie. a finite number divided by infinity, which gets you the average population of each planet. Since anything divided by infinity is so close to zero it makes no odds, the average population of each planet is zero. The total population of the universe is the sum of the populations of each planet - zero plus zero plus zero....... Therefore the population of the universe is zero.
The real reason it doesn't work is that there is not an infinite number of planets.

My mistake.
So, do you have any thoughts on the topic?
