Alpha gradient it, or use the same color as the stick. Also there was a problem, trails are supposed to follow the staff thing. However when you sped up the staff thing the trails end point stayed exactly the same for a long-time, and I even spotted it go backwards a bit. A trail is a motion effect which usually comes from the point where the staff last was, not three frames ago.

Other than that, nice work.

You should only add something like trails, smears, blurs, or something like that when there's a lot of speed an objects going through. like when the object's building momentum it's going pretty slow, so adding a trail to it is a little awkward. i think beginning this trail when the stick looks like / and is starting to really build speed would improve it. The trail's usually a very small effect. Don't think it has to have just as much effort put into it as the animated object itself, because it's only supposed to compliment how fast the object's going. What's important is the object, not the effect. I know you're just practicing this effect but its important to keep that in mind so that you can keep priorities straight doing big projects. If I were you I'd make the trail a bit skinnier (like 20 pixels from the top maximum), leave a floating and dissipating particle trail behind it, and make it start a little later when it's going really fast (as mentioned before).

It looks good. You're improving

Thank you for a great C&C. Yes, I completely agree that the trail is too wide. I was gonna practice leaving particles behind the trail but then again when I saw this Comment, I need to work on my Trail before the Particles. Anyways, thanks. =)

There's nothing huge to making particles. I know its probably a big deal to you but it's not a big mystery. make floating balls appear off a source, make them half or 2/3 the size every frame, moving them in the same motion the source was moving (redrawing, not chipping off with the eraser and moving) and when it's extremely small just delete it. It takes a bit of time but in the end it's just time consuming brainless work. I think you can easily tackle it now.
