About StickPage Tournament
Welcome to our 3rd annual Tournament, and the 2nd to be sponsored by StickPage. Though its name has changed from The Long Time Flash Tournament (TLTFT) to StickPage Tournament, you must know the basics stay the same.

Sign-Ups will be on until 1st of May, when the 1st round starts (and will continue to the end of the competition).

As StickPage Tournament is a bit complex having 2 editions behind, please take your time to read and comprehend this entire first post. The competition will take a total of 3 months, so these are a few minutes well spent. Please don’t be discouraged by the amount of information.

Scoring System
StickPage Tournament is a tournament consisting of 3 rounds. Each round takes 1 month to complete. Your animation for each of the rounds will be rated on a scale from 1 to 10 by 3 judges. The average between the 3 rates represents your score for the round. At the end of the last round, the third, the scores for each round are summed up into your final score. The participant who has the highest score wins.
NOTE:
1. You don’t have to participate in all rounds to win, though, considering the rather small number of 3 this year, it is strongly advised that you do.
2. The three rounds will be animated in the order they are released. This means absolutely nobody except me will have the right to know any details regarding future rounds. Nobody will be given a head start. Nobody will be given the opportunity to animate a certain round in the same amount of time as the others but in advance (eg. You animate round 2 from 15th May to 15th June and the others animate it from 15th June to 15th July) for the sake of not having the theme leaked.

(About) Round themes

StickPage Tournament will not only test your ability to animate, but also your ability to entertain. This means the themes have a certain story. We will only give the main idea of the story and sometimes a few character and plot restrictions. You do the rest. You will have to create the plot in detail and the rest of the characters and make it all look original while sticking to the limitations. You will have to stick to the limitations because all entries for the competition will become collaborations, and the collaborations need to have certain continuity.
IMPORTANT: Since the entries become a collaboration, each round we have a set resolution and frame rate as long as other collaboration-typical rules.

So you know what you’ll be dealing with, here are some examples from last year.
THEME STYLES:
1. A given character bio, a plot and a location.
EG: (TLTFT V.2 Round 1 – “Indestructible”)
You will be animating an indestructible character who has escaped prison. This character is on a killing spree in the city. He has two weapons: a katana and a gun. His color is black.
The character will enter from the left side of the screen, fight his enemies and exit through the right side of the screen. Cinematics are encouraged as well as a strong feel of power from the main character. Your entry must not contain the escape from prison, only the above mentioned killing spree.
2. A given location or situation and no character development.
A battle in the Colosseum. Gladiators will be designed by you, there are no power, look or weapon restrictions. You can have as many gladiators as you want. During the battle the Colosseum can be damaged, but not destroyed so we keep the continuity of the collab. Be creative! ^_^
We will be having a 3rd, different style for the 3rd round this year which I’m not mentioning yet.

Categorization
Don’t be discouraged by the big names in the competition!!!
Unless you are good enough, you will not have to compete against them. StickPage Tournament is split up in three categories: beginner, intermediate and professional.
When you join you will post a couple of your latest animations and the judges will decide what category you fit best.
NOTE: If you progress through the competition, your category will not change. You will stay in the category you start round 1 in until the end, though exceptions can be made before round 2 and you can still get moved, but it’s very unlikely. Most probably, nobody will be changing categories after 1st May (start of first round).
Exception : Do not try to trick the judges into placing you in an easier category. You WILL be discovered when submitting your round 1 entry and placed into your real category.

The Collaborations
At the end of each round, the entries for each of the three categories will be compiled into three separate collaborations. The professional category collaborations will be featured on StickPage front page for a while and then showcased on other sites. The intermediate and beginner collaborations will not be featured on StickPage front page, but will receive plenty attention on the rest of the sites, as they will be featured under the same profile as the pro ones.
Therefore, by delivering entries for this competition, you agree that they will be used in these collabs and showcased on our sponsor’s site.

Now, what about that sponsorship?

Scarecrow, it is the StickPage Tournament because this is the 3rd year it has been hosted here and the 2nd year StickPage is sponsoring us. You haven't heard about those people because the StickPage Animation Community has rather regressed in number lately.
DannyPlatinum13, for instance, has participated last year as well, in intermediate category. He is an animator from FluidAnims and creator of TheAnimPlanet.

I'll assume these are stickfights made in flash. I'll work on it this month, see how good I am, then decide if I should join or not.

It does have to be Flash. You can use additional design software if you want to, but it is advised that you keep the filesize low.
Yes, it does have to be stickfigure. Our concept of stickfigure is rather generous, though.
We allow "madness" bodies, as well as "sack" bodies the kind Tawnik and Blue2 used to do (example here, the first entry http://www.stickpage.com/nuclearwasteland.shtml ) and pretty much any way of drawing a stickfigure. Before you sign up show me exactly what style you're going to use.

NOTE: I haven't signed anyone up so far because no other judges have been online to confirm my categorizations.

A few things on my mind before I go home to aniamte something to show you all. Even though I've been a month or two out of practice >_> It'll be k though. I'm probably going for intermediate, It wouln't be fair competing against some like Terkoiz for example. I feel that It would be biased like hell.

Is it possible for me to be in the Intermediate category, and judge pro? I'm probably one of the best at criticizing, aside from Tawnik, on this website. And I doubt anyone would get higher than a 5 with me watching their anims. Last years submissions made me ****in lawl at how they were judged. No offense meant to anyone. I don't know how to sugarcoat that so I don't piss anyone off. Even though I like animators that are good at animating and keeping consistancy with kick ass effects, I'm not an effect fag. I know that damn near everyone on this site is an effects fag. Sorry, it's just how it is.

About the animations.
You say only stick figures acceptable, and the sort of simple like "bag" figures used lask competition. What about if I did full body creatures. Like you give a theme that involves a fight on a nuclear powerplant (similar to the one you did last year) and their were ****ed up looking animals or something?

Also, it really irritates me how members from other web sites are allowed to join the competition. They can join, but how about they aren't qualafied to get the rewards? It would really help the stickpage community if you put rules in such as you have to have at least 1,000 posts or something or be quite active on the forums to join. The only reason good people want to join is because there is a cash prize :/ Even though it's been done in the past, it isn't like it cannot change. It's very irritating.

I'm also lawling if Vile is in the beginners section. That's kind of funny.

Also, Scarecrow has already gotten abobut 50 points so far. You're a ****ing beast Scarecrow lol.
