Also, it really irritates me how members from other web sites are allowed to join the competition. They can join, but how about they aren't qualafied to get the rewards? It would really help the stickpage community if you put rules in such as you have to have at least 1,000 posts or something or be quite active on the forums to join. The only reason good people want to join is because there is a cash prize :/ Even though it's been done in the past, it isn't like it cannot change. It's very irritating.

I only agree with you on this, I hate(d) (not anymore) how other sites are acting all nice and SUDDENLY join the comp on stickpage only because of the money, and behind there back says the site sucks. Than again you gotta keep in mind...There are almost no decent animators left on stickpage to be honest with you, so if we didn't let others join we wouldn't have a lot of good entries, and there being sponsored on Sp anyways so yeah. More animations the better.

I dont agree with you on the top critters, but that's me. I hope a lot more join and finish so we'll have a lot of good entries this year : D

About the animations.
You say only stick figures acceptable, and the sort of simple like "bag" figures used lask competition. What about if I did full body creatures. Like you give a theme that involves a fight on a nuclear powerplant (similar to the one you did last year) and their were ****ed up looking animals or something?

Also, it really irritates me how members from other web sites are allowed to join the competition. They can join, but how about they aren't qualafied to get the rewards? It would really help the stickpage community if you put rules in such as you have to have at least 1,000 posts or something or be quite active on the forums to join. I'm also lawling if Vile is in the beginners section. That's kind of funny.

No, you can't be in intermediate and judge pro. The fact that nobody would get more than "5" provided we are talking about a 1 to 10 scale, is very discouraging in the matter of having you as a judge. I dislike severe judges. I prefer the balanced type. I'm sorry, it's a no for judging.
Yes, you can have fullbody creatures in your animation provided that the main character stays a stickfigure.
Unfortunately, as SSJ said, the resources here on StickPage are limited. I really hope the situation will change sometime. I've been trying to make it happen for a while now... :) I will not limit the participants with such rules. It is their choice if they want to be on StickPage or not. Consider some would just make those posts a while before the competition and then quit the forum again.
Vile has been moved to intermediate now. Me and SSJBryando have seen more of his animations.

EDIT: Nevertheless, good to know we have a good basis for the beginner category here on StickPage. In 2008, TLTFT (as it was named at the time) actually turned some people that wanted to quit back to animation. It also made everyone progress a lot. :)

Do you know why no one would get higher than a 5? It's actually quite simple. I'm very thorough and know what I'm talking about.
I guess it's your choice, It really doesn't matter though. It's just another reason that supports why I said I wouldn't want to be in the pro category.

Put me in intermediate. That's where I was last time, so it's only right to be there again seeing as how I know I'm not a contender against Terkoiz fans.

Also, about other site members being able to enter. I agree. Our community is slacking on the skill portion of the competition, sure, but how do you expect to get skilled animators to be a part of the community? It would be smarter to put an active members only restriction in the rules as a sort of "help me help you" kind of deal. If they're active on the forum and website, they can have a role in some of the features here. I don't know. It's another reason why I avoid wanting to be in the pro section :/ Would be completely biased as ****.

I'll at least save you the trouble of looking around

The judges will decide whether you fit pro or inter. All you have to do is post the example animation. =]

I'll join, but I haven't actually animated any of my best work yet, so I'll post that when I have.

Is it problematic if i animate the stick figures in pivot, then add all the details in flash?

If not, here is a sample:

Hi hawk. I'd like to join under the Pro category.
My most recent stuff is traditional work (most recent first):
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/1325/591yM6_BipolarWalk.swf
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfTxDDG74N8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07VNpNf5aLM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqRijUinhNk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxvHECYslzQ
And my latest flash project was 6 months ago. This was in the same time frame on top of classwork, so I'm 100% sure my entries would dominate the quality of this:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/516301
and this was a year or so ago:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/496122

Questions:
Is there a loose amount of time length you expect from these entries?
Let me get this straight: The minimum "stickfigure-ness"would be the main character having stick limbs?
Can i use photoshop and aftereffects to touch up the movie, when in the end the file format is either swf, avi or mp4? It would be simpler if I could do this in avi or mp4, but know that aftereffects can export FLAs and SWFs.
Is participation in the collaboration required?
Am I allowed to leak any of the content (including animated clips, background paintings, etc) onto this or any other forum?

Bubbles you have to post an example before you're signed up. I hope that "one" in your post means "an example", cause we have themes for entries.
You should give it a try, Yummerz. Even only for the experience you'll gain. :)
Tortuga, I'd really prefer Flash for the characters. Sorry. You're a pretty good animator, though. You should try Flash. You still got 13 days to get used to it. Good luck!

Kitsune, your work is amazing. You're really good. You need to do sticks though. I suggest you use the same kind of semi-fullbody you used in "Factory" at the beginning (black body, red eyes). :)
I expect 10/20/30 seconds minimum for beginner/intermediate/professional category participants per round.
Yes, that would be the minimum stickfigureness, basically. As I said before, you can use your semi-fullbody type of character to mix up with the rest of FB you'll be using. Make sure there isn't too much of a big difference in detail between human characters, though. It wouldn't look very good.
The final file has to be .fla. Also, you need to use PhotoShop and AfterEffects in a way that keeps the animation filesize collab-friendly. We don't want huge filesizes due to high-detail background or special effects.
Yes, participation in the collaborations is a must. We receive sponsorship for the competition through those.
You are allowed to leak no more than short teasers (if you have 30 seconds, it would be advised to keep teasers under 10 seconds), background paintings, character design, but NOT the entire entry and NOT large ammounts of the above mentioned. Thanks for the questions. :)

Yes, xstorm999, outlined sticks are allowed. I said any kind of sticks.

EDIT: New entrants will be signed up as soon as another judge is online.

Meh, I'll join.

Oh, and by the way, I'll be downloading the trial version of Flash to do this, so even if I do complete this, it'll probably be incredibly bad.
