Name changed. Kept "Kitsune" in brackets so I don't make any confusion.
Those are just examples there. Yes, the themes will be the same... template so to say. As you can see, the first round style gives a lot of details and a simple plot. The second round style allows you to be creative by only giving a specific location.
Yes, absolutely. The Factory character was good. Don't overdo the details though. I suggest you don't add clothing, cause that would make it FullBody, in my opinion.
As a professional, you will have to animate an entry of minimum 30 seconds.
The tracks sound nice. I may use them. We'll see. :)
I don't know yet. We've tried to make a well-structured basis for judging in 2008 but it only made judging harder. I prefer to leave it to the judges to build their own basis. Actually, I think that's
an important ability a judge must have.

I meant in the actual .swf and on the newgrounds credit page and in any publication regarding this aside from here that I'm ONLY called MarcK. I'm fine if I'm called kit here.
Shit, 30 seconds minimum!? Well at least I can write it a lot easier. I was wondering how to make a good 20 second well written entry. :I
The reason I asked about the criteria is because then we have an easier way to know what to animate. If judges come up with their own criteria it would have opinion factored into it, and I might make something in the field that Crazy Jay doesn't particularly like.

thanks!
edit: oh! and as for a "signature" in our collab, can I also put under my name the name of my website? small, less noticeable, out of the way, but I'd like to promote my portfolio on the internet somehow. Again, no big deal if there's a problem with that. I know fluidanims couldn't promote in their spp contest entries but this isn't a small clip shown at the beginning for outside website promotion, it's just something small on the side.

If the judges have biases and overrate anyone gravely they will be stepping outside the judging booth, believe me, Arch. You are in inter for completely different reasons than your request. Your requests, people, will not make me and SSJ (main categorization judhes) back an eyelash. Only in the last instance, in a very hard judging situation will we consider those. This competition will be fair. Arguing about positions in the competition is worthless unless you bring me a good example and some well-made reviews to support you. Only then you will be moved.
Arch, if you submit (as Kitsune said) a good round 1 entry you will be moved to professional. Do not attempt to limit your skills though, or anything like that. Not only you will be spotted at some point but we will all hate your gut (or maybe not, but you get the point). That goes for everyone.
I hope this post made you understand my (and ours, the judges, I hope :)) attitude towards cheating.
Thank you, Samus. =]
@ Scarecrow: Keep an eye on the competition. At some point somebody may become a participant. I heard SSJ would like to be in round 2 or 3.
@Vendetta : I don't know, but there's one that tastes like off-topic. :P

New Entrants list will be updated later today.

Edit : No, Kitsune, we are not allowed any kind of advertising in the collabs.

Just making sure.

And I do hate to pile these questions on you hawk but there are just so many to be asked.

The releasing will be done in collab form? Or will the judges just post the places (like 3rd on one day. 2nd the next and 1st the last day) like last year's (or 2008's) tournament and the collab would be made later?

Don't be biasedz (Late reply to someones) I'll also will/try not to get intimidated by ''Umg, Lf2 (For E.g) posted something, it must get a high score 8+!''. Not that I will fall for that in the first place. I hope no one will

Also Kitsune, 30 seconds is not that much [Edit: Last years entries about one minute+]. Length is also a factor. If you did 10 seconds, while most will probably do around a one mins + they'll probably have an extra point than you (Depending if it has quality as well of course. Quality >>> quantity anytime) But you showed a lot of unique things in your example animation, so everyone has a good shot no matter length.

Also Arch-angel/Kitsune, we believe that Arch belongs in Inter else we wouldn't put him there : P Requests don't do much. You also overestimate yourself a bit to much arch [Not saying youre not good] : P I only brag for fun and kiddingz .

And agreed with Samus. And if you performance is overthetop and out of your class-league I heard you could still be moved for more money opportunities if required anyways.

Also Rabstar, that may be, but a lot post a very short animation. You guys could prob. still move up if you post something bigger that showcases different skillz than a 2 hit combo require. Obi I believe is at the right spot imo, but I doubted between Pro as well so thats a good sign.

@ SSJBryando / Kitsune : Actually, most of last year's entry were around a minute. We didn't have a big number of participants, but they were hard working, creative and knew how to make an interesting, catchy plot. =] I sure hope the participants this year will keep that nice tradition we have in the pro category. ;)

New Entrants List :
Sonoya - beinner (edited, changed our minds)
Vendetta - beginner

Invert - pro

Yes, we did. =]

EDIT :

Just a quick reminder. If you're unhappy with your category, please note that you may be moved to a different category depending on your performance in ROUND 1. Aside from that, you can post a new example BEFORE round 1 to be moved. Also, me and SSJ will be trying to recheck everyone before 1st May if we have the time and energy to do so. It's hard work, guys. :)
