Oh, I didn't notice the handbook thread. For the past five days I haven't had much time to really do anything, so I skimmed over most of the new posts/threads without noticing which ones were important.

Do you know if the FA mods applied for their positions? It just sounds kind of weird that they'd write a convincing application and then not do anything when they were chosen.

I think some of them did, I know Stone still has a bunch of people that are going to be moderators for specific forums only, hence the distinction between you guys as gmods and them as regular mods, but I believe those like Jomm were brought over from the FA list of mods.

Also I'll increase the physical size limit too. I really wish vBulletins fucking permissions system was better at inheritance. This is such a pain in the ass.

Okay, these fucking threads being made in the general section are starting to piss me off. Dumb pointless shit like:

- The Haiku Thread
- The cheese thread
- The where's waldo thread
- The What hath science wrought thread
- the avatar rape thread
- the image communication thread

These all suck and make me want to kill myself. So I'm thinking:

A) Spheal with it
B) New section for forum games and other dumb shit that adds no points or posts
C) Ban them completely

What are your thoughts

I fucking love Rawgreen, and the thread isn't THAT bad.
It's like a spinoff of the rap battle shit. Which seeing peoples horrid attempts at sounding G' makes me want to go kill some babies in hopes that they won't grow up to be that dumb.

As far as everything else, yeah they're pretty fucking dumb.
I was about to bin the cheese appreciation thread but some people seemed to like the thread so idk.
Since you're online, why not make a forum game section that has the same mechanics as the introduction section in that it doesn't raise post count. Then instead of locking and binning this filth we can move it as such without anyone getting their panties in a knot.

I don't even like the rap battle thread. It seems like people are just pulling stupid ideas out their ass in order to actually make a new thread. Haikus? Really? What's the merit? What's the point? It's not adding anything to the forum.

I might talk to stone and make that forum. It's just so annoying to see these threads littering what would otherwise be a good section.

Let's just make "making stupid threads" an offense, so we can delete all of them ;)

usually we just bin shit like the avatar rape thread when it gets a couple pages
everyone has one round of participating in a moderately retarded thread before it's purged from the section. however, no one has been doing it because
1. there aren't "strict" mods anymore like gavel and mantha
2. I left them because we could use the activity. I don't know, but after the crisis we've gone through about the forum dying, I just like seeing new active threads even when they're a little dumb.

I wouldn't mind another section too much, but I'd be sad if it made general discussion more inactive

I think "bump/double post" should be worth 0 (warning), along with signature rule violation. I don't know what "inappropriate language" means- is that intentionally vague?

Why is insulting another member even against the rules? Wouldn't that just be "flaming"? Flaming and trolling are not the same thing.

For the threads you don't like, you'd need to update the forum description for General area. ATM, it reads as "if it don't fit anywhere, do it here" so people are naturally going to assume that they can put the pointless crap there.

Also, add a forum area for "Spam threads", ie: the stupid threads where people post only picutres or play games that only require people to write single words. That way, we can have an area for generalised discussion and talkings, and an area for low tier, less wholesome posts. And like you said, the spammier area would have no points awarded.

I don't like the idea of making them warning only because it teaches nothing. If there's a real threat of points piling up to a ban then there's a better chance the person will stop their behaviour.

Inappropriate language would be more for if someone was insulting someone else who was posting about how their mom died or something. A situation where they should really just shut up and not post rather than verbally assaulting someone for no reason.

Trolling and flaming are lumped together because I didn't want to make two different infraction entries for similar items with the same amount of points. I know they aren't the same thing, but they are similar.

I really don't think they're that similar. If I infractioned someone who aggressively insulted another member and attached the reason "trolling/flaming", it's very likely that they'd respond with "I WASN'T TROLLING", which would be true. Well, I guess I can just use the custom infraction thing, so I suppose it's no big deal.

I suppose that's true, I can separate them. I just figured I was saving space by lumping them into one group. Anyway, they kind of are similar in that the end result is usually to get someone else mad.

I was wondering... why can't I customize my profile colors/background anymore? Does it have to do with permissions or can other mods do it, and it's just me?
