I think that's a good idea and I appreciate the initiative. The only problem I foresee is that choosing a mod for that section will not be easy, since the best choice would be an SE player but none of the members that seem to be regulars there are moderator material in my opinion. Either way I think it's a good idea so we have that feedback and can make a choice from there.

I don't completely agree actually. I think there are a few members there that I think would actually make fine mods. The problem is whether or not they actually want to be mods.

Skeletonxf for example is someone that I think would be a great mod, but the last time I talked to him he didn't express interest in being one. Granted, this was also a year ago, so things might have changed since then.

EDIT: Okay I made the thread. It's here if anyone else wants to check out the (incoming) results.

I think I probably just have to take a closer look at potential mods. Admittedly, my opinion is based off cursory browsing of that section and the fact that for some reason "active player" was the standard for making someone a chat mod in the game itself which has lead to a lot of controversy and really revealed why some people in that community just shouldn't have power.

EDIT: Oh yeah, on browsing over Skeletonxf's posts I would definitely agree with you. He's not been terribly active over the last year, so maybe that's why he didn't come to mind when considering "regulars" of the section. I also think WyzDm would be a good candidate, but again he's not terribly active.

WyzDm is very inactive. From what I've been told he will come back when irl stuff get out of the way, but he's not a reliable choice. Tecness also expressed interest being a mod again and some members are content with that, but obviously his weird activity patterns may be something to take into consideration. Nyarlathotep is also another candidate (also goes by Rain). He also seems to be a popular pick, and from my exchanges with him, I certainly would support that decision.

EDIT: Well, looking at the poll, it looks like we won't really have to consider a mod anyway.

Seems unnecessary. There are plenty of open threads available, and the chat thread isn't even that active anyway in comparison.

DragonCheeseCake was hoping to get his name changed to Gage so he can post his music project. Is that alright?

I'll. Come back and read all of this after a nap. I've been through a lot of stress and recently acquired a boyfriend so I've been kind of out of it. I'm still here with/for you guys and I apologise for my absence.

Why the closing of the Chat Thread?

Is there any way we can get the SoM to start affecting Visitor Messages? I just had to manually go through 80 profiles to delete the damage done by that Linkle bot, and, suffice it to say, that's a really, really tedious process.

I have a question, what determines a post to flagged for moderation? I know that it triggers for anything under a certain word count, if the user has less than a certain amount of posts, and if he/she posts a link. Are there any other requirements? I saw this thread and it was marked as moderated, but I couldn't find anything that would suggest why.

I really need to review our "moderated" guidelines to be honest. I actually do not have a clear answer because when I was trying to help WaveSP with his SPAC WIP thread I also couldn't see why it kept getting set as moderated despite me approving it over and over. I seriously dislike vBulletin's admin panel because I find it hard to find the information I need, so I have been procrastinating in the hopes that we'll be migrating to SP 2.0 before it really becomes an issue.
