You don't seem to understand what the thread is about. He was saying that your post made no sense and didn't apply to the topic of discussion. And this thread IS about talking. its the DEBATE section, we're supposed to be debating if martial arts helps you in a real life situation.
responses in bold.
An umbrella wouldn't help you much honestly, its to flimsy to be used as a weapon , even for stabbing. It be better for a distraction, you could throw it towards their face while its open then drop down and strike low.
Yeah if you get into a fight you WILL get hurt, either bruised or cut. But knowing martial arts gives you an edge in the fight, but if you're fighting like a 300 pound man and you only way about 150, your chances of beating him go down, despite contrary belief size DOES matter. The more body weight you have, the more solid and muscular you are, even if you're mostly fat. think about it, a 20 pound weight hurts when its dropped on your foot from 3 feet, but a 200 pound weight hurts relatively the same when dropped form only half a foot. Same applies to punches and kicks. If I get hit by a 150 pound man with his fist moving at lets say 35 miles per hour, it would hurt. But if a 300 pound man only punched me with 15-20 miles an hour it would hurt about the same. [I know I used to have a friend who was also a martial artist who was roughly 300 pounds, his punches hurt like hell and he was hitting at the same speed as everyone else.]
The Le Savate (SP?) martial art in France uses what I believe are long-range kicks and umbrellas (though they can be fitted with blades) for self defense. Don't quote me on that, though.
You forgot to mention that armspan can also give you an advantage. Although being large can be part of an advantage, being light, quick, strong, smart and flexible will always be the winner, rather than being large, pretty fast...flexibility..? And having much technique. A larger person IS ABLE to be quite quick, HOWEVER, will not be living up to their full potential.
Remember in the movie "Game of Death" with Bruce Lee? He fought with Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, it was a good show of how flexibility, speed and technique can be used well.
Wrong! Thats quite silly to say , you cant defeat a strong guy with just will , with will you will have bravery to fight him even knowing him better , but without strength you cant do much
Oh jeeze.
1. I know you have to be intelligent in a fight, in fact I am an intellectual fighter, but suffer because I am not as physically fit as I should be.
2. Where did I say that will can be only used to beat someone? I simply said, will can be powerful.
