The current lottery is at some record setting ridiculous amount of money. Something like 647 Million. More money then I'd ever need, even with chances nearing the impossible, its still kind of neat to imagine if you did win .. what would you do? Clearly, everyone will love to insert the 'buy tons of garbage here' quote. Really though, if you won 647~ million dollars. What would you do with it? Would you stop working, live seclusive and do whatever you wanted everyday in your life? Would you donate it all away? Would you give some to friends and family? Try and make a difference in the world?
I thought about it, and I think I'd do what 'some' people would do and pay off their parents debts or buy them a home of their dreams. Donate 1 million to help stop hunger in starving countries, and help those in need.
I would probably invest the LARGE majority of it into some sort of money market to generate money on interest on a year to year. Honestly, I would truly try and live at the same level of income I'm at- to a certain degree. What I mean is, if I won I wouldn't go out and buy a 5 million dollar home and a jet. I don't think those kinds of things are entirely necessary and SOMETIMES are what get people in trouble ( referring to those who won and lost everything, including friends and family. )
In short, If I won I'd do my best to stay the same person, help my friends and family and do what I could to still try and make the world a better place and enjoy my life doing whatever at that point. What would you do?
So I bought my first 'Mega Million' Lotto ticket today..

647 million? That's insane... In all honesty; half of that would go straight to charity, the rest in a bank, you could live very comfortably off of the monthly interest of 320 odd million, that's more money than anyone would ever need!

First we tried shredding it, burning it, burrying it, but then we decided to just give it all away~

Still live the same buy some things I really need go on a few holidays , I wouldn't have that stupid attitude of spending everything.

Pretty sure half of that would go straight to taxes first. Assuming you're lucky enough to win, which is what, 50 times less likely than getting struck by lightning?
But yeah, living off interest would be the way to go. I'm fine with living a relatively comfortable, modest lifestyle and just using that money as a safety net.
That said I do have a list of music equipment that I want, at this moment, which could easily eat up half a million dollars. No joke. But beyond that there's not much that I want or need.

I was assuming this was country specific, you don't get taxed on lottery wins in the UK.

Well 647 million is the payoff. So you will actually end up getting quite a bit of that taken away due to taxes and such.
I would most likely store a very large part of that into a stock on the rise or invest it into something with a year to year income basis and such. I would easily pay off debts for college and for my parents as well. And nowing how I spend money, the rest would stay in a locked savings account with a higher interest rate and such, very little of it I would actually spend.

I don't understand you guys saying you wouldn't spend any of it. You're young. Go nuts. That money won't be nearly as much fun when you're old, if you even live long enough to get to that point.

It Doesn't necessarily Matter because each year, the value of US dollars goes down..
after the next view years or so, US dollars will have ZERO value.

if you won most of it would go to taxes, but you'd still have a fuckton. If I had that kind of money I'd be handing out a bunch to people I like online and IRL, but I would live modestly because I don't need a giant mansion or anything. I'd just keep myself afloat while I developed websites and games and shit.

I would: pay for the rest of my school tuition, pay off my parents debt, buy this house so my dad can go nuts and customize the shit out of it, buy an HPE1000 Camaro, customized so that I can actually fit in it, as well as refurbished models from each generation, move out, rent a nice apartment in Seattle with an awesome view, buy a shitload of Les Paul Guitars. From there I'd buy like 100 acres of land and start a paintball field. Then I would send a good chunk to charity and put the rest in a CD.

fund spice and wolf season 3, and give like 300,000K each to people of a certain internet community
also fund my imageforum construction by hiring coders, and take it easy
actually, I'd still go to college just for the fuck of it.

i'm pretty sure it's some kind of researched fact that it's more likely that you'll get hit by a car upon exiting wherever you bought the lottery ticket from than you winning it
