Never really liked anime, in fact I took a pretty avid dislike to it for some time due to the culture surrounding it (most people that I know that watch it - one being my ex - is into the "JAPANESE KAWAIIII NARUTO ^.^ culture, pisses me the fuck off). Lately, however, I decided to try watching some, and surprisingly I like it.

I've watched:
spirited away,
Howls moving castle,
paprika,
princess mononoke

I'm going to watch some more after finishing Breaking bad. Spirited away is freaking amazing, gives me nostalgia for some reason. Howls moving castle is pretty awesome too. Any recommendations, anyone?

Anime is a form of media. You can't tell if the story is good by just how it looks, so some people bunch all anime together as the same shit.

You probably know this, but All of the movies you listed (except paprika) are by Hayao Miyazaki and studio ghibli, and they have a loads of more movies like that. Most of them have a very story book-ish feel and are usually based on myths and such. I cant say that I'v seen an anime series that would have the same mystical feel as any of studio ghibli's movies.

Yeah my reason for disliking anime was pretty bullshit, I accept that, it just pissed me off for some reason.

Yeah I knew they were by Miyazaki, but I didn't know whether they were all that good? I love the sort of story that Howls moving castle and spirited away tell, princess mononoke is pretty cool too - sort of reminds me of pokahontas or avatar (the movie). Are there any more of his that are like that, or as good in particular?

Also, I guess I'll have a look at darker than black too, I think that's the same one that my friend recommended to me.

Yes, pretty much all movies by him that I'v seen have had the same feel and quality. He has made a lot of kids films though. Some of them might not be to your liking.

Imo the moving castle and spirited away are his best movies. (Also latest ones I think.) I'm pretty sure that he's retired now.

Some other good ones from him are: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Porco Rosso. Also, Tales from Earthsea is a movie from his son. (Not quite as good but pretty to look at.)

Now, when it comes to anime series, I'd recommend death note, monster, code geass and bakuman.

Lemme break this shit down right here.

DBZ: A good show in a lot of instances but doesn't really warrant a spot on my top ten, not too bad a pick for one though. It's basically the grand daddy of the big three. This show has scenes so mind blowingly epic though, haha. I hear rumors of the recording booths being padded on the floor, because people would pass out from screaming for so long.
Yuyuhakusho: Kind of the same thing as DBZ, it's got some fucking amazing scenes but also has a lot of gratuitous bullshit to go with it.
HunterXHunter/Bleach: HunterXHunter this show makes about as much sense as a fire proof cigarette this shit is wackier than toon town, but it has some pretty awesome characters and if anything it does make for some pretty decent entertainment I can see it being on some peoples top ten. Bleach, man this show rocked so fucking hard the first few seasons, it was simply amazing, taking all the shit that was great about DBZ and adding some good stuff of it's own. Then everything went down hill, the plot, animation quality. Everything became fucking repetitive, ichigos friend gets kidnapped, he goes to stop it, gets his ass beat causing him to lose his resolve, ichigo is an emo bitch for a few episodes, decides to train again, finds his resolve "again" and saves the fucking day. Rinse repeat. Basically I refused to watch anymore of that fucking show after ulquiorra died, because he was like the last villain I found entertaining. This show is gratuitous amounts of bullshit galore.
Kenichi: It was a decent show with some decent characters, but over all I wouldn't say it is worthy of a top ten. I don't know, I mean, any time someone asks me if I watched it I can only reply with "yeah, it was pretty good". I don't really remember much from it, it barely sticks with me.
Naruto: You wanna talk about copious amounts of bullshit? No, no. This show is fucking KING of pointless bullshit, man. After Sasuke walks off to join Orochimaru the show basically devolves into meaningless filler like dribble until Shippuden. Though I can't deny that one battle between Naruto and Sasuke was so awesome, that part where he damn near punches a hole in that whiny emo face is priceless. Just look at it.

The show, like Bleach, has it's moments but has so much useless crap in it that at times I recommend you save yourself the suffering and skip whole segments. I highly suggest the manga over the anime for everything with the exception of fight scenes.
00 Gundam: Never watched it, is it any good? Not the biggest gundam fan. I hear it was good.
G Gundam: Is this the one where he wears latex and dances around inside the gundam? Because if so, this shit is gay as fuck.

-_- guy the last 2 were just me out of ideas for my list. By your picture I can tell you like Alucard something like that is just way to dark for me seems it would be slow. If I had to replace the last too I would say Trigun.
