PS3 is by far the better console. This isn't my opinion, it's an objective fact. There are countless negative aspects about the Xbox 360 that don't have any positives to balance them out. I know that when it comes down to it, personal preference in features rules all, but when you're talking about which is the "better" console, I've yet to see a convincing argument for the 360.
Here's a brief list of problems I have with the 360:
- Online service is by paid subscription
- Aspects of console are locked out unless you have a paid subscription, such as apps, even if the app has nothing to do with Xbox Live (Netflix, Youtube, both of which are free on PS3)
- Poor support for media files (has to be a specific format to play right, if at all)
- Poor support for plug-and-play media servers (PS3 has nearly flawless support for this)
- No Blu-Ray Support
- Terrible online shopping system, uses points rather than specific amounts
- Point cards come in awkward increments so that you rarely have enough to just get what you want, you're always over-paying
- Promotional points expire
- Terrible developer support for patches (TF2 on the 360 is shitty because of this policy)
- Company policy forces developers to charge for DLC (Bastion DLC was free everywhere, except for the 360 because of this policy)
- 360 Controllers aren't rechargable by default
- Heat Issues on most consoles (obvious one)
- Fucking ADS on the dashboard - even with a paid online account (seriously, what the fuck is this?)
I have a few more but you get the idea. The 360 falls short too many times, and doesn't have enough to redeem itself. There aren't that many good exclusive titles for it, and the only reason I have one is just because I would like to be able to play those exclusives that are good (I like Halo). Any game I can get, if I'm going to get it for a console I will go for PS3 first.
