Not going to specify, but I am abit on the younger side of the sea and curse. Now, my parents are divorced, I only see my dad on the weekends and for certain things have to teach myself how to do. My dad told me not to curse infront of my mother, grandmother, or really any lady. I could generally only curse infront of him. Now, this was when I was say... 9? Hop in a time machine and look at me now compared to my friends. After cursing for afew years in my head and just to general other people I realized that it really was just a word, and couldn't really inflict damage. Thus, should only be used when your joking around or if it is just apart of how you talk (e.g. "Man, thats shitty!" Compared to "You're a shitfaced cockhead."). It cant be used in a way to just end an argument or to defuse a situation. If you take a look around the room, all my friends who were raised in religious households and cant curse period curse like a special needs sailor in a wheel chair when their parents leave the room. As much as parents don't like to admit it, Kids find things out on their own. Johnny shooting someone in Call of duty won't make him a school shooter, and Jimmy saying "shit!" doesn't turn him into a crackhead. In my opinion, I am living breathing proof of a kid who was allowed to curse as a young kid is better mannered then kids who think that cursing is a taboo.
However, I do realize that with certain kids if they were allowed to curse would not mind what their parent said and would curse in public and make an ass out of himself. To add onto that, in our society not a single person who heard a foul mouthed child would speak up or say something to the parents. To derail alittle bit, when my dad was running around as a kid he didn't have two parents, he had the NEIGHBORHOOD as a parent. If he stepped out of line, he'd be beaten back into it. If it means hitting a kid into line to make them into the men like our fathers that could kill a bear in a fist fight with his "bear" hands (I had to) then so be it. In my book, there is a difference between beating your kid and reminding him who is in charge. To get back onto topic alittle bit, my friend will curse infront of his father and mother, and when his dad tells him not to, my friend (who we shall dub Don) will THREATEN his dad! My dad is alittle more old school, and would knock my chops out if I even tried that shit!
Personally, I think cursing is the last thing on the list of things that need a reform.

Swearing isn't a bad thing, its swearing when the situation isn't applicable. But honestly its not that big of a deal because when maturity comes around and slaps you in the face, most people generally understand when to swear and when not to.

I think the word "fuck" is in my top three most commonly used word. "Shit" is in the top five as well lol. Does this mean I'm going to hell?

Swearing is definitely not bad. Honestly if parents keep their children from swearing it may cause them to curse more in the future when they actually can. I go by the saying "There's a time and place for everything". Meaning you can curse, you just have to watch when and where you do so.

I agree with you.
But if the kids just walk around saying "fuck" or "shit", then that's going to be a problem.
Even so, it's never good to swear otherwise. Just try to keep swearing at a minimum.

Nah, it just makes you look immature. However, as long as you use it appropriately, then you should be fine I guess.

Quote from MatrixNinja2000(Naimad)Well, I must say I've heard plenty of conversations in between kids and every sentence uses at least 3-5 instances of swearing and 5 or more instances niggah if the sentence length allows. That is really unnecessary and is when it becomes a larger problem. I don't know if you guys hear the same type of talk because, I live in the suburban ghetto, but, I don't think its very different. There is honestly no need to swear 3-5 times in nearly every damn sentence, and as Zed said it removes the effect. If I'm speaking to a friend and spoke like a sailor skinny dipping off the side of his boat the whole freaking time, every day, how do you think he'll react? That's the problem, I mean not the reaction, but, the over use and steamrolling of it.
I totally agree. I think it is a bad idea to curse around your adolescent friends for any kid, because they laugh and make the other kid think that if you curse fifty five times in a minute that it can substitute for humor and is generally acceptable. Then, that kid thinks cursing is funny and you have a zombie apocalypse.
EDIT: I have a friend who's black, and he beats the hell out of anyone who says niggah, even black people. It, amongst most other curse words generally make you look immature and as soon as I hear words such as those in a logical argument I simply tune out since I realize the person is a complete and totall retard.

If you went to a middle school in Louisiana, you would hear kids talking about pussy and calling each other niggas all the time.
Honestly, this disappoints me, because every time I go to those schools, swag fags are around every corner who think swearing is cool. And swearing isn't cool, it makes you look like you can't think of any other vocabulary besides "fuck". Plus they don't even use those words appropriately. When I was in that school, the kids were swearing at the teachers and many students got suspended or expelled. You see what I mean? If they learn those swear words, they're going to beat that word to the ground. Seriously, this is a fucking huge disappointment because half the kids in the state act like that. Those kids better learn to use those words appropriately or don't fucking say anything at all. It's very simple, but kids don't seem to know shit these days.
It just pisses me off thinking about it.

I really don't give a crap about what other kids say, or what people say in general, words simply don't offend me. However, it makes them look like such idiots. I'd rather they know them and abuse them, as it shows how they abuse something they think is a status symbol and makes them look cool; that's all there is. If they think that saying nigger and shit is cool? Then so be it. However, I won't be a hypocrite: I curse, I grew up around a construction crew and am used to scaffolding talk and the works. You can't curse because it sounds cool, that is where it gets out of hand.
On the side, I'm moving onto 7th grade. Middle school looks pretty damn awesome.
EDIT: Molgera, have you been victimized to having to listen to the swaggots swearing too? Makes you want to tie the noose.

I think swearing isn't a problem for children because they are just words, you don't get harm because you swear. My friend swear to me all the time, I didn't took it as an offense, I took it as a joke. My point is, swearing doesn't get you hurt like actual punching and kicking.

I actually think its not that bad really because their children and when they grow up sooner or later they're gonna find out about these words
and start using them, 'cause nowadays people use swear words alot when expressing themselves
But really its up to the child to decide whether he/she says swear words on a daily basis

The facts are, it's pretty much impossible to completely avoid language like that. Swearing is a part of the world, which is fallen, humans can't help it. But I still oppose it. I may let one slip from time to time. But does it make me feel any better about what I was whining about? No, not at all. So I guess I'm against kids swearing, it's not something they need to do at that age.

Well, in that case, there is only one solution...
All children caught swearing in a non-swearing zone will be swiftly executed for their crimes, purifying the population repeatedly until there are none left to continue the obnoxious behavior.
Add a tax system that punishes those who swear more than their daily quota...
Lower this quota over the years...
Profit.

All right, no necro bumps please. Also, please take these debates more seriously and give realistic answers.
