Being a not-so-common forum poster in general, but more of a forum lurker, one thing I used to really love about forum were the signatures. There used to be really cool signatures on forums and stuff and being really talented in making sigs was a respectable hobby as far as forums for artsy stuff goes. I don't know what happened but sigs just aren't as cool as they were. Most of the time, if they aren't some messy compilation of animated gifs, they are just shameless self-advertisements which said poster is promoting or hosting. There are some cool clan promotion sigs, but most of those sigs are just stickfigure drawings made in flash and saved as pngs or jifs. I'm not trying to cause any controversy, just spark some conversation.

What happened to all the cool sigs? Or am I just some has-been whose clinging on to a time that I appreciated more as far as forum signatures are concerned?

I'm curious what people think.

Hell yea.

Yeah, I get it not being a high priority, but if we have enough free time to make stick figure animations, why not just make our forum posts look a little bit cooler just for the sake of being a little bit cooler? Signatures are a good way of showing some aspect of a person's personality. Think of it being analogous to wearing clothes. You get a sense of that person's style and personality based on their appearance. It's not always accurate, but it's a good start. See what I'm saying?

I'm not that in to photo shop editing, lol.
But the sig is hand drawn by me in SAI, so that's something for artistic style and knowledge.

I guess, the best signature that I have seen recently besides yours is Stone's, but he made his kinda advertising the Scoop, so it's not just pretty for art's sake. But signatures would be cool again if a lot looked as clean as his just for the sake of being a clean, sexy signature. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

I'm all for sigs, but one of my priorities is having a clan sig so people can look and say "hey, he leads legend, good to know" and the gif I have shows people I like gurren lagann.
its more of a way to express you, rather than just looking cool. so yeah, even so I try to make the sigs make as eye catching as possible.

I got my sig and avvy from Jutsu, who used to make people graphics stuff as favors (He also might've had an actual thread for a bit.) Saying that sigs are forms of self expression is sorta bullshit. Sure, it might give you information about that person, but I don't look at sigs for deep insights about the person I'm talking to. On an unrelated note, I think people should have absolutely no text links in their sigs, but instead shortish picture links.
