Rap music will never die. But Im more into hip-hop as to where in rap music the artist works for what he\she works for and has that right to brag about whatever theyve earned. But I do agree, there is a limit and it can be excessive and repetitive. When it comes to hip-hop, I believe every song has either a message or a story. Hip-hop will never die, Rap is just getting wounded a little bit. Its all good though.
Lil Wayne has always been shit, Eminem's new stuff isn't his best but it still is probably the best new rap songs out.
As for me I just stick to old school. Gravediggaz, Wu-Tang, Biggie, Pac, Big L etc.
You just need to know where to look and stop following rappers who rap about bitches and hoes.
I'm speaking out of my ass here, but I believe that rappers in the past had something to talk about. Racism, poverty, the ku klux klan. This allowed for some quality lyrics as it was something deep and personal. Now in a privileged society, what do people have to rap about? Their job sucking? If someone wants to bring it back, introduce rap to Africa. I'm sure they have alot to talk about.
This of course is assuming that good rap is the whiny kind.
I generally don't listen to much rap, because most of it sucks, and I'm not a fan of the culture.
I do, however enjoy some of the ones that stand out from the whole "gangsta" thing. Tech n9ne is good, Hopsin is alright. Deltron 3030 is really good too. (Vid below.)
I'm just too white to only to listen to rap or to pretend that I know anything about the scene.
The "gangsta" theme used to be relevant to the times, with all the racism and stuff like that. If anyone wants an example...go see Boyz in the Hood (this movie will probably make your cry).
Now, it's just repeating itself over and over and over and over and over. I don't care about someones "skanky hoes" with their "sweet rides" and "pimped out houses". I guess we have to embrace the Jersey Shore generation...I think we'll have to reduce our IQs by a half to fit in properly.
...Dawg.
