Since God is our "heavenly father", would he be a good father?
"Son, if you clean your room, I will create you eternal paradise with all the candy and ice cream you could ever eat.

That is pretty much God's method of doing things, eternal paradise or eternal torture based upon your belief of the lack of evidence of my existence.

Well I do think god is good, but I think he is many things since he is The Creator of All things so they say. But we really don't know what god actually is so we can only go on books or religious beliefs to get a clue on what god really is. But what we have been told he is suppose to be a Good source.

i think the answer would be that GOD is neutral ! he will be good with good pplz and bad with evil pplz !!!

Actually the thread isn't about the Christian god, it's about any of the major monotheistic religions' Gods. Christianity is just the most common/popular one on SP.

My point was about the Pascal's Wager argument brought up earlier. He was arguing along the lines of game theory, saying that it doesn't hurt to believe in God but it might hurt not to. I was pointing out that it might hurt more not to believe in a different god, Anubis being the example which sprang to mind (although I'm sure he wouldn't be the most vicious god if I really looked for one).

Take a moment to really think about what characteristics an object would have to have for you to say "this is God". If you can't think of any then your use of the word "God" is literally meaningless, so we must assume that there are some criteria which an object could possess to be considered your deity. I imagine the descriptions associated with "God" for you would be something like "better than me in every conceivable way". You might also go for "faultless" "awesome" or "handsome".

In my opinion, he could sometimes be good and sometimes could be bad.God is great because He is selfless, and is quite literally, Love. He didn't have to create the world, or us, but He did, and He continually loves all of us no matter what and some of my requests and prayers to God somehow happened.But the only way he is bad is when people who sinned alot will be sent to a horrible fiery place called hell,that will be a permanent punishment that will be torturing your soul but he did that because he loves us just like our parents,they would punish us if we did something very wrong.It is just that I do not really like that punishment to go to hell, I would say that will be a bad part since he would not send us to heaven after that.
