I am genuinely impressed that this thread is still a thing.

Well,i just put my left hand on the asdf keys, then my right hand on the hjkl keys. Then I put my thumbs on the space, make sure I have proper posture, then I type the day away until I get carpal tunnel syndrome.

I used to type at about 80 WPM using my index and middle fingers. I realised I wanted to learn "proper" touch-typing. It looks better, and seemed much easier in terms of less effort (there's not much moving of the hands, your hands should stay in the same position). So I started learning, and after about a month I got good. I can now type at 93 WPM at a push (that's my best ever score). I'd say I average like 85 though when I'm just typing normally and not doing a WPM test.

I average around 60 I guess. Life would be so much easier with 90 wpm.
I think I'm similar to Jombo. Only on very rare occasions do I spit out a slab of text. It usually goes a sentence. Think abit. Maybe some back spaces. Then continue in the similar pattern. Probably that is the reason why I haven't improved on my speed despite years at the keyboard.

I go at about 60-70 wpm, I don't really see why you'd ever need to type any faster than that. I remember there was this one ditzy stereotypical blonde girl who could type at like 130 wpm, it was fucking crazy. She hardly made mistakes, too. She must be destined to be a secretary.
Nov 27, 2012 5:38 AM #799537
I average around 155-165 WPM. Which I guess is pretty fucking fast.

What's the average? 50-60? In that case you type more then twice as fast as a typical person. I want to hear the sound of your typing.

Pretend to type extremely fast.
That's what it sounds like.

160 is mental.
I don't know anyone IRL that can type above 95-100, I'd love to be able to type like that D:

i've max'd on 162wpm, although on average i do 80-100, and if im bothered 115-125, very easily. i also type a lot one handed (incoming immature jokes below) and i can clock about 20-40 wpm one handed *puts on glasses* Like a boss

But I'm guessing, in your super fast typing, you just ignore the shift key.

Maxed out on what? An actual typing test? In my high school typing class the program we used had games involving short sentences or even individual words, and the highest I got it to display was 315 WPM, but that's pretty meaningless.
If your max speed is twice your average speed, you're doing something wrong. 165-170 is the highest I can get on a good day before I start making a lot of mistakes, but my comfort level is around 130 WPM

Not really, that doesn't save any time.
