Thank both of you sons of bitches for your take on my idea
In all honesty, this whole thing (and side conversations) are making it super tempting to bring Aug back for a spar spree.

You mean this whole thing: :canadian: ?
Seriously though, why is Devour a meme now, of all times?
Is Stickpage trolling us?

On a COMPLETELY UNRELATED TOPIC, am I the only person who thinks that creating a demo is the most time-consuming part of the character when you actually write ideas in a conceivable format for wRHG. just saying.
Personally, the demo is a good chance to see if your character would work. Like, when I was between picking my next fighter, I had the concept of Axel and Merrick Daytona, but after scrapping the fourth demo, I realized I wasn't ready for that many moving parts. It's a good check if you actually want to do something.

I personally love demos, since you can do whatever the fuck you want with limited repercussion. Shit, Manny's profile was more or less made to look like a joke, but the demo was literally me dicking around.

If I may add to the discussion, Demos are a great way to showcase your character's abilities. As such, it can help to show abilities so others can get a clearer understanding of your character. It's also a great way to show that your character is not too weak or too powerful.
Additionally, it allows other's to gauge your skill level so they know whether or not to challenge you. That may seem like a bad thing, but I doubt you want someone completely new to writing to be challenged by one of the higher-ups like Richard. (The process would probably scare them away).

This was actually the original intent for them, I do believe.

I think Malacal is correct in that Demo's are really intended as a kind of placement test (or at least used that way).
In the end, though, I've noticed a lot of people here just gauge the writer's skill from the actual char page itself, and refrain from reading the Demo until they fight them. I mean, you can tell a lot by how a person makes a char, and I know that generally speaking if the Demo is anything longer than really short, I'm not going to take the time to read it unless I think it's helpful to me.
(This reminds me that the Doctor's demo is still from the now-expired version of his char sheet....might need to fix that).

I just don't care about skill level personally. If I want to write a character I'll challenge them. In fact, I much prefer having a character more on the powerful side who is a villain because I often find it more fun to write other people's characters (I had a lot of fun expanding on Verde).
...also because I enjoy writing heroes failing (Exhibit A: Verde).
Then there have been times where I've intentionally challenged people or accepted challenges by people who were far better than me because then my mistakes would be more obvious to those doling out CnC.

I'm similar to Mal, I don't much care for skill level, I challenge characters who I think are interesting to some extent. If the writer is of a "lower level," then I can hopefully teach them a thing or two. If they're a "higher level" writer, I can learn a thing or two. It's all a matter of perspective, really.
Seriously though, I kinda just do whatever I feel like. It is what it is.

I do know what demos are for. I'm not quite that much of a n00b.
Also, hypocrisy concerning the amount I listen.
Exhibit A: I said time-consuming, not useless or boring or anything else.
On another unrelated topic, considering I seem to have a fetish for theme songs for wRHG chars.,

Am I the only one around here who associates Dante and Manny with this song (Click to Show)
this song.

It wasn't really a jab at you not listening, it was more-less that it's worthwhile.

@Dooms
X GONNA GIVE IT TO YA! :p
On the subject of theme songs though, what are y'alls thoughts on them? At one point Dante had like four or five of them, I know. I guess they're okay. If I had to pick one for my character currently, it would be this one though, I think. Rock+Roll, by EDEN. Heard it played live, and I guess it stuck with me.

There's a reckonin' a-comin'
And it burns beyond the grave
Lead inside my belly
'cause my soul has lost its way
Oh, Lazarus
How did your debts get paid?
Oh, Lazarus
Were you so afraid?
When the fires, when the fires have surrounded you
With the Hounds of Hell comin' after you
I've got blood, I've got blood on my name
I like Blood on My Name for Serif at the moment. I think they're neat so fine, but don't serve much purpose

While we're on the subject of songs, I have one for my character, but I don't know how good it is:p Any ideas for a better one?

Just saying, technically this was and still is Manny's theme song.
