@Camila Ohh, yeah, when you said gun ban, does that include the U.S military?

@Envoy And i never said household objects are efficient as a gun. I just said in some cases, killing with a gun isn't making it easier at all. Because it could depend on what you want or the situation. And in self defense, Camila, Im pretty sure people would rather use a gun, then their fists. getting a gun ban is just dumb.

And the guy who killed 20 people, could probably have used a bow and arrow(if the arrow was sharp and strong enough and the bow was like-a 100 pound bow)
it has been done before-i think.

And true, I doubt anybody would allow their kid to carry a gun to school-if, they didnt think they would be shot. I mean, in a place I know, you better have something to protect you ass with or you going to get beat up or killed

And didn't bruce lee beat a man up becuase that guy tried to rob him? And didn't that guy have a gun?

The point of the 2nd Amendment was to make sure that the people would always have the power necessary to overthrow the government if it ever became corrupt, or stopped serving the people in general. That's severely outdated considering the firepower that they're packing nowadays, but people still cling to it with a death grip.

i agree with Camilla that weapons shouldn't be given to everyone but in the USA there is a murder every hour and a rape every 15 minutes...i think its a little necessary to make some exceptions !

Where the fuck did you get these statistics?

The statistics might be off, but they still happen way to frequently. New York celebrated it's first murder free day in years a month ago.

Why to have a gun if you're not going to kill someone?.

The issue is to take guns away from people that doesn't need one. Not let everyone buy one in a "supermarket".

Edit: and RISER that's not a good source to put it as an argument in a debate >_>. Just sayin.

Let's look at a place were guns are already illegal,so let's choose Mexico. In Mexico,it's illegal to have a gun,but look on the streets, you will see gangs with guns. People still die due to guns and yet the ban is there.Just because something is illegal doesn't mean people will stop doing it.It's like trying to make weed illegal.

I dont think there should be a complete ban, people should have some level of trust.
That said in aus it will take 6 months and at least a 300 dollar safe before i can have a paintballgun.
Which is reasonable. Guns should be allowed but just with so much hassle that they arnt worth buying.
So im all for strong regulations, with handguns more (its hard to consel a rifle on yourself). I would be all for no advertising of guns and no conventions and all that jazz. I think it would also be interesting to consider offering insentives for handing in guns to the police.
Or atleast this is where i would start.

As to the shootings, i would like to see help for people mental health easily accessable. And the media shouldnt focus on the killer but the victums when its reporting stories. We dont need sick people turnkng on the news and seeing a murder having 15 mins of fame and planning how they to can be on tv.

Or we could look at Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Britain and Japan where gun crime is almost nonexistent. The list can go on, and it far outnumbers yours, so your example has failed.

How is my example a fail.People still die in those countries due to guns(I am aware much fewer people die in those country's, but that could be due a better government system).I am trying to point out making gun's illegal won't stop gun-related deaths, reduce it? Sure, but since the people who are shooting are can still get guns "illegally" the same way people get drugs, by smuggling them, in the end of the day people still die. Most of the gun-related violence is most common in poor urban areas. It could also be due to the sheer amount of lack off morals in a country. USA, for example, has really poor morals, while countries like the one's you listed, have great morals.

Less than 100 people are shot dead in Britain every year. More than 10,000 are in the US. Are you seriously saying that it isn't worthwhile reducing deaths by 99%* just because it isn't 100%?

*Actually I guess it would only be 96% once you account for population differences. Point stands.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/oct/17/death-rate-lowest-england-wales

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3147241/

^^What is that? I dont know. Now, lets check it with guns.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

U.S-10.2
