I can't help but wonder how anyone ever discovered how to kite (more so both ways) it seems like something someone would have to tell you about before you do it. I'd have to imagine that the devs were more open towards spreading tech way back when. i myself learned that mass garrisoning could shoot another volley so for a long time i mass garrisoned and then defended to kite. so i could see g kiting coming maybe, but forward kiting... huh thinking about this i suppose it just came from people trying to anim cancel with archers- then people learned they could do it with A as well... well, turns out i have no question to answer now. Hmm, i guess the jump from garrisoning all units to single units, someone noticed when running away if you garrisoned a weak unit, it would shoot, so it was worked into being done on purpose.
