Is there a tutorial for line stick animation that actually shows how to draw the lines? I pretty new but i can draw ok simple stick animations using the brush tool, but its VERY difficult for me to animate fighting like punching and kicking with the brush. So is how do you animate with lines? One of my biggest problems with line animating is the line thickness... if you don't understand just show me like a video where someone line animates... Sorry for the long post lol im just frustrated because i cant find any tut like this. I know the movements; just need a video where the artist draws out the lines.

Its the anticipation, he should prepare for the kick more, he should bend A LOT when he's trying to jump that high and kick him..

and another thing you should work on is the easing, its really important to ease =)

F6 is for keyframe, which MEANS that the previous frame's contents will still be there. If you don't want anything in the next frame, press F5 which is for blank Keyframe.

Woops, yeah, the F7 thing ._.

A stick's head is just a circle, I do not understand how anyone can suck at making a circle. Just press shift and make the proper size head [circle]. And then a proper sized body to fit in with the head. The body shouldn't be too thin nor too thick. Medium, now, you DO know how to set the line thickness right? Unless you're doing brush. And line, you don't need to redraw every frame, you can drag the limbs, unless a big movement comes up. Brush is where you draw each frame, but it's easier to make a head with the circle tool and not with the brush. Convert it into a symbol [Right Click>Convert to Symbol]. And press F6 and erase the brush part and redraw. Because that's easier than pressing F7 where everything disappears. But you can also make a different layer for the head, which is even more easy. Just try out some techniques, try figuring it out by yourself before asking. And if you can't figure it out, then you ask.

The last time I upgraded my Flash version was in 2004 and then I pretty much stopped animating ever since; it's been so long I hardly noticed. My long term goal of being a pro Flash animating hobbyist never worked out, but now I want to return to animating again instead of playing online games all the time. I started out in StickSuicide, but they closed down.

Should I upgrade my Flash version and if so, which version should I upgrade to?

I suggest you either upgrade to Flash CS3 or Flash 8. Unless you want the new Flash 9 or whatever it's called, it's cool but complex. But, preferably, upgrade to Flash 8 Pro.

Flash 8 is all you'll need, and unless you're animating line then MX is also fine.

But doesn't MX have a limited line thickness? A very short limit.

Flash CS4 (9) is as complex as Flash 8 is.
When you opened Flash for the first time don't tell me you knew all the shortcuts and didn't think: "So, yeah, what the **** do I do now?"
You just need to get used it.

CS4 keeps the best if you're doing line, AND brush. But Flash 8 just has bigger sizes, it's all a matter of preference and style.

Line thickness stays the same in every version.
