Consider Flash CS6 to be the last flash you'll use. Adobe has went Cloud only.

That's right. The title isn't a troll. It's an awful day for digital creatives.

Adobe have confirmed that they no longer support the CS range, and will no longer make updates to it. Meaning if you use ANY Adobe CC product and want new features, you will now have to pay a subscription fee to continue using it. Adobe have decided that there will be no CS7 Products, and only licensing to use their software through the cloud. This means when you want to use the product you will have to login online so your flash, premier or whatever will pick up how long you have until you pay the monthly rate again. If you fail to make payment the product will cease to open after 180 days.

This is absolutely insulting as Flash Professional CC (creative cloud) out on June, has went native 64bit. All windows are modular so you can pull anything anywhere. Content is now native HD with the implementation of HTML5, so your animations could be insanely huge and have little lag. They also have an unlimited paste board, which remembers/libraries your copies. But nobody will be able to afford it, because they are asking a crazy £38.12 plus VAT (£44.24) /US $50 per month ($20 for flash only). Meaning a product which would be a one off payment is a constant dip into your pocket. They should be ashamed of themselves. Just one step closer to the death of Flash, because flash artists won't spend that kind of money just for a £400 program and photoshop.

While the cloud idea sounds cool the pricing is a disgrace, they obviously did not have the user in mind when they made these decisions.

Did you even read the thread?
They aren't stopping, they are stopping development of the Creative Suite, replacing it with the Creative Cloud. The service sounds like it could potentially be cool, but the pricing is crazy.

It's only $19.99 a month for a single application. An annual contract of $49.99 a month gets you access to most of their programs, not just Flash. I'm not sure how Peter missed that.

Businesses and professionals are their target market, not 15 year old kids who animate stick figures. For what you get, that pricing is pretty damn fair, especially considering how expensive their stuff usually is.

Unless you paid for Flash, shut the fuck up.

Virtually all of you guys downloaded Flash illegally, so the collective reaction to this is going to amount to "baww, I can't steal their products anymore, this is so unfair!!!". What, the $500-700 professional animation suite you stole isn't good enough for you? Jesus fuck. Get over yourselves.

Lol this makes sense. Does this apply only to CS6, or will I be surprised with a window telling me to pay my fees when I open my Flash cs3, which I downloaded illegally.

This makes me wonder what will the future of amateur animators will be, given that their main program for use is now...well, disabled. I don't think there are any other programs that can possibly offer what flash has, unless some ingenious pirate thinks of something.

Then again, I'm sure pirates will always find a way.

What, do you want me to read it to you? Look at their site. It explains everything.

In fact I don't think Peter read it either.

Not true.

Straight from their site: "You will need to be online when you install and license your software. If you have an annual membership, you'll be asked to connect to the web to validate your software licenses every 30 days. However, you'll be able to use products for 180 days even if you're offline."

Also, look at the sheer amount of shit you get for $49.99 a month:

Photoshop
Illustrator
InDesign
Dreamweaver
After Effects
Premiere Pro
Muse
Acrobat XI Pro
Audition
Bridge
Encore
Fireworks
Flash Builder Premium
Flash Professional
InCopy
Lightroom
Media Encoder
Prelude
SpeedGrade
Edge Animate
Edge Inspect
Edge Web Fonts
PhoneGab Build
Edge Code
Edge Reflow
Typekit
Creative CLoud Files
Story CC Plus
Kuler
Business Catalyst
Digital Publishing Suite
Behance
ProSite

It also integrates with Photoshop Touch, Kuler iPhone, Ideas, Behace iPhone and Creative Portfolio.

Oh, and you get free access to a library of video tutorials of their products, AND you get two one-on-one help sessions with an expert per year.

That's a good fucking deal, and this is somehow the "death of Flash"? You're making it sound like they're saying "you have to pay us $50 a month to use Flash" like that's all this is. If you guys already have a copy of Flash, you're not missing out on anything.

Woah! calm down, I agree though unless you have actually paid for the full CS6 package like I have then you have no reason to complain.
Besides there's always the portable version of Flash 8. Looks at your options before you start being a drama queen.

It's not exactly an unfair assumption, but that's why I said "unless you paid for Flash". If you did then I'm not talking about you, and you should be able to afford $20 a month if you really want to upgrade.

I'm sure someone will find a way to keep the usable in offline mode for more than 30 days for others. The cheap skates will just have to live without the updates if that ever happen. I don't actually this will be possible to pirate so folks, it's time to bring out your wallet if you take animating seriously as some of us or look for some new hobby if you don't see yourself paying. It's understandable seeing as some of the members here are 13 or lower and will be unable to pay the amount requested by adobe but am sure the price will probably come down in time.
