The reason Macs are a little more expensive are these two;
1. Steven Jobs is a greedy old douche
2. They run OS X Natively. Truly, i think if all of you had to use a mac for at least a month, you would like or prefer them.

If Apple can sell their computers at such a price, and still have enough people willing to buy them to maximize profits, then they are going to. The bottom line is, they are a business and their goal is to make money.
The people at Apple aren't idiots, they know full well that their products are overpriced (though they probably wouldn't use such blatant terms to explain it). However, it's obvious that they have plenty of brand recognition and brand loyalty, and if that business model is working for them, they aren't going to change it.
I'm not trying to justify or defend their way of doing business. I'm simply pointing out that this is the reality of things.
Besides it's a pointless debate. Everyone has a different idea of what makes a computer good, there is no universal standard that all computers must be weighed against.

I hate the computers, but the iPod is secks.

I think I agree with ash. Macs are for the people that don't really know everything about computers, and just use the computer to do pretty simple things like go on the internet and mabye listen to some music. PC's on the other hand are for the gamers and the programers.
I <3 my Ipod.

nah, they look good, but besides that i think theyre pretty crap. especially those awful earphones that come with them that people still use and think they're good...haha. and the sound quality isnt comparable to sony or zen. and i think the new sonys have an easier way to put songs on.

No, I have an iPhone, its ****ing better then anything out there on the market, and I have headphones, also, the sound quality is based upon the song itself, and how good a rip it was, if you didn't pay for it
If you did, then the quality is perfect.

believe me, sound quality is based upon more than just the rip. im not really an audiophile, but i like good quality music. it is somewhat based on the rip (im re-ripping all my CD's to 320kbps MP3 or WAV(1411kbps) files at the moment, so i do have good rips.
sound quality is based on the source (i.e. computer, mp3 player, stereo system or whatever) the earphones/headphones (with which the crappy white ibuds are not really good) and the rip.
if you dont think the source (ipod, mp3 player) counts towards sound quality, you're mistaken.
im not saying the iphone is bad, and i shouldnt have said theyre crap, but i just wouldnt want one. they look good and stuff but im not envious of people who have them, i think i'd want a phone that does video too, whereas the iphone doesnt. and although its mp3 user interface is great and sexy, and admittedly better than most, the lower sound quality than other mp3 players and some other things just put me off. im sure its great, i just dont want one myself

The iPhone does video, roflmao, research your facts, not only that, they can have up to 32 gigabytes of storage.
I have 5 movies on my iPhone, full length, perfect rips perfect quality.
And I have all the episodes of Family guy and Monkey dust on it.
Not to mention the quality, I assure you, is FINE.
Stop fretting over it.

i meant TAKING video, i actually dont really care about getting episodes of stuff and movies on my mp3 player. but on a phone i'd want to be able to TAKE videos
and yes, the qualty probably is FINE, but just according to reviews and my own experience, its not quite as good as others, edit: oh and im talking about sound quality here, not video btw
Jun 16, 2008 5:51 PM #158256
My god, phones usually have crap quality when it comes to either video taking or music, so you can't really use that.
Besides, sony and the rest are imitating the iPhone.
