Not to mention it severely limits the technologies used and what can be done with the game.

I've played KH1 and 2, but not in that order. Because I was more interested in 2's graphics when I bought it (Hey I was like 8 when I first played it).

Quote from RaptorQuestion. Who has played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, in that order?
I played them in that order.

I started with KH: 358/2 Days, I was wondering how it felt to be using a character that was a part of the Organization XIII and how you reacted when it was first revealed to you based on your experiences in KH1 and Chain of Memories.

First off Chain of Memories was a bullshit game that did nothing but piss me off 24/7.
I don't recall anything about the organization in KH1, only in KH2. Regardless I felt like every member of the Org XIII was a super badass that at some point I would have to defeat.
Also Axel is by far the coolest.

Yeah Chain of Memories was pretty bullshit.
Gonna say it was fucking awesome that you had to face Roxas as a boss in KH 2 remix or something.

Shut up both of you. CoM was the best sidestory plot-wise.
My expectations for the Org was already destroyed when KH2 came out because it made them to look like complete pansies...as opposed to CoM. I don't know exactly why Veir hates Chain of Memories (probably the abhorrent combat system, which honestly isn't so bad had it not decided to rehash the plot of KH1, which is probably the main reason why it sucks), but I enjoyed that game simply because it showed how much of a threat the Org was.
Just imagine for a second, that you played as Sora in KH1, and you've reached level 50 or 99 or some shit, even beaten Sephiroth of all people.
Then after all that, in the Tower of Memories, a hooded figure (Axel) who talks big and taunts you just kicks your ass. Just like that. Moreover, he goes on to tell you that a bunch of very powerful people that he belongs to knows about you and what you are. That at any moment they can just kill you but for some reason don't because they need you for their master plan. I mean, even when you finally "beat" Axel and Larxene, it's only because you've already gotten so far ahead and you didn't necessarily beat them in-story either. Turns out they were just fainting.
When I beat Marluxia for the first time, I felt legitimately threatened. Heartless Ansem was a hammy joke despite everything he did. But barely scraping against the lowest subordinate of an Organization that had your number? Fuck. Shit just got real. If this was how the lesser half of the Org operated, how much more of a threat was the upper half?!
And then KH2 came along and well...they ruined everything. The Organization was downplayed as some wannabe group who just wanted-to-be-complete. Most of their battles felt really easy not in a gameplay sense but its became obvious that Sora could just as easily kick their ass. And so their needless taunting which was a psychological staple in CoM is instead downplayed as a buncha babies giving you the stinkeye. Some would say its cos Sora received new threads and made more friends and made new links and quicktime events---BULLSHIT. Sora was fucking powerless in CoM. He barely beat Marluxia. How in the fuck did the Org suddenly become his bitch?! KH2 ruined any shred of legitimacy OrgXIII had.
And btw I don't consider Roxas as part of the Org (and definitely not that transvestite Sora clone either). As far as I'm concerned he was like a tagalong kid, a trump card, a tool. He had issues of his own that was sort of interesting had you actually played him from beginning to end. Roxas in KH2 was like Solid Snake in MGS2. You thought this was gonna be a new chapter then BAM NOPE THE MAIN CHARACTER IS THIS GUY.

ANYWAYS. Straying from Roxas, I wanna say that by the time 358/2 came out I just fucking didn't care about the Org. They were pansies. Post-CoM, they're just a buncha whiny dicks with flashy powers and abilities.

Sorry, couldn't stand the gameplay of CoM to care enough about it. When I played it, it was just too fucking confusing for me. Call me horrible at the game and I probably am, but I just didn't like it.

Unfortunately this is one of those games where gameplay can kill the story.
Nevertheless I thought it was necessary to understand it, because if you completely disregard CoM, then KH2 is just bullshit.
KH2 is just Press X to win
Although tbh, when I played CoM:Re on the PS2 it sort of redeemed itself

I can kinda see where Hewitt is coming from. I probably didn't appreciate the story whatsoever because I had already played KH2 before CoM, so the Org was already opened to me and everything. But jesus fucking christ that combat system was fucking ridiculous.
Aug 18, 2014 10:13 AM #1233466
Agreed. CoM's battle system was bullshit. I hardly scraped through to get to axel, where he just kicks my ass, time and time again. I never beat him, and I'm probably not gonna pick up CoM again.

I never played the version on the PS2, but the Gameboy Advanced one was pretty bullshit hard. So many things happening at once, so little space to run, so much you have to take into consideration, everything's a mess. You have to be a real hardcore to beat that game.

There's like a smash bros character games sale in Europe or something, so I bought myself Megaman 2 since I've never played a Megaman game before. It's damn good, I'm really surprised at how much I'm enjoying it.
Next up, Megaman 3 and Megaman X!

The original megaman x is my all time favorite megaman game, it's pretty damn good
