Teacher.

It's time to give my students hell, and tell them about the former planet Pluto.

Are your on crack because you gotta know a lot math to become a game designer.

You need some math, like a high school education of math, and logic, Programming, coding, and all that is composed of your mind and working with algorithms.

And lay off Schwa. Game designing is a department of jobs. So he didn't specify, making him an idiot?

My future: I am applying for college for a career in cinema, working with film making, 3d animation, 2d animation, and all that shit in Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and My Guidance counselor, careers teacher, and my father who teaches at a college of the same area of selectivity all say that I'm pretty sure to get in. If I get in, I'll pursue an internship for a career in cinema, and for a back up, I will have programming as a part of my college education in some way...

My wishes: To get a good paying job doing what I like, animating, or what I enjoy, coding. I'm fine with whatever. =/

Your misinterpretation of my post is also idiotic. I didn't mean that game designer is a stupid job, I mean that your stupid for saying you want to be one, because game designer isn't a real job.

Saying 'Game Designer' is like saying 'I want to fly planes', great, well which planes are you going to fly?

You could be a programmer (which does require math) or an animator (which make more money by the way) or design music or do storyboards or write the story, etc. You have to think about what you specifically want to do you can't just say 'Game Designer'.

Actually, "Game Designer" is a real job title. usually, though, it's very hard to get a job as JUST a designer. You have to work on the programming team or art team or something as well usually, but many people only do design.

And he's not an idiot, he's just ignorant.

If your plan is to "become a game designer" first and foremost, you'll never get the job. EVERYONE wants that title, so it's a very competitive market. You need to learn programming, animation, or business on top of game design so you get a job as a programmer, animator, or producer, then you can work your way into workign with the design.

Land161, I reccomend you read Chris Crawford on Game Design by Chris Crawford and Break Into The Game Industry by Ernest Adams. They'll give you an idea of what you need to do to become a game designer.
