-Users who are rated over 1800 and have been inactive for a week will now experience slow weekly rating decay.

We implemented this system to create a more accurate top 100, if you want to be in the top 100 you have to be actively playing, you can no longer just rank it up then never play it again to keep your name high. Also this will help me keep an eye on boosters.

this is a very good implementation, and I fully support this.

But I have a few questions

how is the word "inactive " be expressed?

If I am top 100, and I online everyday, but I do not play any ranked matches, instead, I only play non ranked. Will my rating decay?

Another question is that, if I am both classic top 100 and dm top 100, but if I only play dm ranked matches and do not play any classic ranked matches, will my classic rating decay ? And same question for the reverse situation.

The last question is that : What is the decay rate ?

Loong overdue update. Thank you CJ.

Inactive = rank within a week IIRC from patch notes.

And yeah, I have to ask about the decay rate.

To avoid being inactive it means you must play at least 1 ranked match.
Classic and DM ranked are treated separately, You will lose points in the one you are inactive in.

what if people are in school?
like... what if that persons only way to go ranked is at school and they are on break for a couple weeks.
i think this is a bad idea in an indirect way.
i own a mac at home however it is rather difficult to play on a laptop.
i'd say a month is better than a week.
either risk playing laptop handicapped or lose rating for not being able to play.
seems rather flawed in this aspect.
it would make more sense to increase the time limit.

I personally think one week is quite straightforward and makes sense.
One month will be too long for rearranging the leaderboard and makes the new system meaningless

besides, I believe if a player has the ability to get high ranked, even his rating decays, he will get those points back soon.

and furthermore, I suggest there is a recover system, that means if there is a decay within one week, if the player plays a game within two weeks, his rating will be back to the original

We want the leaderboards to represent the actual top 100 players and not have guys who ranked up a year ago, then just log in once a month win a gain against their buddys then leave again.

lol what a joke... 1 game a week is nothing. The only impact it will have is force REALLY old players off of the top.

It will actually be MUCH easier for anyone that wants to alt up into the top 100 to do so.

It acually is. Id rather play against a 2.2k player on an 1800 acc than a 2k acc, bcuz they rage HARD if they lose.

i assume most of the people supporting this are simply because they want the chance to be on the leaders.
its basically gonna be a back and forth against rating decay should one have a large break between game ops

I've been thinking something like this would be a good idea, glad to see it's being implemented. Right now I think a lot of the players in top 100 no longer play SE, and this should be reflected--this way the top 100 will now be the top 100 players that actually still play this game.

Hardly. I support this, and there's no way I'll be in the leaderboards even with this implemented. WyzDM supports this, and this update means that his account TheWyzDM may not be #1 anymore...it's just a way of making sure the leaderboard is reflective of those who actually play.

A potential issue is that if you're going on vacation and can't play SE for a week or two, you will lose rating points, although I don't think this will generally be a problem; perhaps in the future something can be introduced to remedy it.

A hard rating reset every half year would serve this purpose better.
