That's a good idea, and basically what I was thinking of. A button for allowing the report, and getting rid of it. But what I think should happen is if the report is turned down for bullshit the person should get an infraction, so that there aren't just people reporting everything because the person getting reported said something to piss them off. Even though that's a bit harsh, it's stupid to report every post of someone who's just annoying, because not only does it increase post count, it makes the mods have to delete more threads in the "batcave".

Eh... that would have to be an entirely separate button. It would be the following:

Confirm - Confirms the report.

Delete - Deletes the report. Useful if the person who reported it thinks it's against the rules, but the mod thinks otherwise.

Reporting Abuse - Deletes the report and infractions the reporter. Useful when the reporter knows the post isn't against the rules and reported it anyway, just because they're on a reporting spree of a certain member's posts.

EDIT: Good point, Dudeman. Excellent, excellent point. No infractions, just add to their report points.

Knew it.
A smiley bank wouldnt hurt much, yknow, a place where you can add your own smilies, like on MSN, it'd stop people whining about how the smilies are bad and whatnot/
Heh that's a good idea. Maybe we can have that when we don't have to be all worried about forum space being taken up by avatars when we get the link to off site avatar.

Now that would be wonderful. There would be no more "These smilies suck, why do they suck? Why does ZuLu suck? Why do the mods suck? Why does my life suck? Why does my animation suck? Why does this site suck?" and whatnot. Or at least the part with the "Why do these smilies suck?".

I lol'd.

I'm guessing it would be very hard to do though. I know nothing about computers but it seems like it could be complicated even for people who do.

At the end of the day, I guess we have to realise that this is NOT a democracy, and therefore our views and ideas mean moot if ZuLu/Crazy Jay/Paperclip don't approve of them.
Then again, we did get new smileys!

And the Digg feature.. OJ I had nothing against the Digg feature, mostly cos i didnt have a blues clue what the hell it did..

Yeah, looking back it does seem rather complex.

And I suppose it's kind of a half democracy...

And yeah, we got new smilies so it's possible.

And the Digg feature... To tell you the truth I had no clue what it was supposed to do anyway, I mean how do you turn a thread's 1st post into a Digg story?

Well, our Lord and Master is online as we speak, so we may see what he thinks of the ideas posted in this thread.

Not a suggestion, per se, but I'd really like it if the admins were more active, specifically Zulu. The site administrators should be some of the most active people in forum discussions, just so they're somewhat humanized to the members. It shouldn't be a ****ing miracle if they ever post outside of official updates or news threads.

And "I'm too busy" shouldn't be an excuse. There's nothing about this site that can eat up every moment of your free time to where you can't spend some time on the forums for a few minutes daily.

I'd also like to see the monthly official portal competitions come up again. Monthly was the plan, but I only recall it happening once, with the Kill CJ Collab, but since then I haven't heard of any others.

Honestly, I'm getting rather tired of this. You realize Aaron and Jason are... what, 26 now? 27? How old are you, Exilement? For that matter, how old are the majority of all members on here? You're 16. The majority of all members on here, as witnessed in a certain age poll, are 14. Do you honestly expect a 26/27 year old man to come on everyday and just start chatting with a bunch of 14 year olds, as if he was one of you? I don't. In fact, I say he's to be commended for being as active as he is.

Besides, who cares how active they are as long as they keep this community running nice and smooth, the way you like it?

EDIT: Sorry, you're 16 now.

Uh, the only thing that matters when it comes to age on the internet is maturity, which most respectable people on this forum have. It's not like Zulu would be a pedophile if he engaged in discussions on SPP.

On a similar note, Synthlight from FFR and Matt Calvert from SFDT are generally active members, and both of them are very big contributers to discussions. I'm not sure about Calvert, but Synthlight is 33 years old. I see no reason why Zulu should be an exception, and I also see no reason why he wouldn't want to be active with the community

Besides, who cares how active they are as long as they keep this community running nice and smooth, the way you like it?

If he suddenly became active in the very community he's been upholding for the past few years, it's not like the site would fall apart. It's just nice to actually see the person who's running things post outside of update and announcement threads, or threads discussing the administrators or SPP.

Seriously, age does not matter. It IS maturity, and besides, he should be more active. Exilement stole most of what I would say.
