I sure do miss a lot. When I'm sitting around waiting for posts, no one ever posts. When I go away for a day or so, everyone posts. Nonstop.
Okay, I've noticed one big change, and I'm going to edit the first post now. Note that I've read through all the posts since my last visit, and I've noted a few of the suggestions, but I'll wait until some of these ideas take a bit more form before I edit them in.

It would be great if i could disable rateings in my threads that would make my day.

Quote from JawzI was reading this thread and I had an idea to improve the portal.
It was: Members must be granted certain privileges (by a moderator or something), before they are able to submit animations to the portal. This way, we would
a) avoid the problems NTG outlined here, and
b) have only animations of decent quality on the portal, which, I believe, is good for business.
So what say you.
* cough *

Then it's not a public portal anymore. And having a mod (or mods) search through every member to see wether they are portal worthy would be ridiculusly time consuming.

Well, it would sort of still be public, you'd just need approval before you can post anything stupid.
And as for the mods thing, you're right, that would be time-consuming, maybe we could have something like another user group specific to the purpose?

That's not possible.

So would it be better for new members to find there way to the pivot section prior to main? Whatever you replace main with will get the noobs then. I rather noobs in main then in debate or show off.
Tutorials which may not be any use to you can be a use to someone else. People search SP for tutorials like mad, I don't want to risk removing a tutorial that is getting a lot of traffic because some newbs think it sucks. If you really don't like a specific tutorial then PM the mods to remove it. You people don't need an automated system for everything.
It's called a PM, it's the new google...
If you can show me that there's enough support for this then I'd do it...A section under Show Off for user-created literature/writing. (1)

About the tutorial rating suggestion:
Since the thread rating system isn't that useful in the General forum, how about it is only enabled the show off and tutorials section? It makes much more sense to me.

I'd like to see the option to show/not show the rating thing. Because I don't plan on using it and it's pretty annoying up there. It's just too big.

Finnerwoo creates his own movies.
Frozen phoenix likes to write stories, as do i and a lot of other people.
Many people like Exilement and Jaws make music.
It worked well when we had it on the old forum.
I suggest mixing it with the games section which has a new post about once a month.

Yeah, a forum for 'homemade' music would be great.
Aug 21, 2007 5:36 PM #53327
Keep in mind this is an animation forum. Any show off other than games or animation wouldn't fit.
Aug 21, 2007 5:38 PM #53328
Then remove everything below the Tutorials section, no?
Aug 21, 2007 5:40 PM #53329
That's discussion, not show off.
