There was once a schizophrenic man who told his friend he could hear voices in his head. His friend told him that it was Allah, and that he should obey the voices.

The man obeyed the voices. A week later, the man had killed everyone who came near his house. His friend asked "why?". The man gave him a dead stare, and replied with a grin, "The voices told me to"

His friend was speechless.

As told to me by my Grandmother when I was younger.

As in a constituted belief in the existence of a deity that is accepted by a general group of people and isn't a cult.

Like Christianity or Buddhism (Though those are the only instances that came to mind, there are others I can't think of).
