So, I was roaming the internet, when a curious question popped into my head:

"How can you take 'The Lord's' name in vain, when we don't use his name, only his title?" I can't remember exactly what spawned this particular question, but it's been bugging me ever since. I mean, seriously, the JudeoChristiSlum God has the "names" Jehovah and Yahweh, which were formed from the 4 letters mentioned in religious text that are supposedly 'God's' name minus the vowels, and Allah is just the Muslim word for god, so how exactly do people take his name in vain?

I should sleep more and explore weird questions less.

Yo, Jutsu, got any stretching exercises to help straighten the upper back? Lately I've been noticing that I hunch my shoulders to the front a little bit too much, especially after my back workouts. For the past few days I've been trying my best to adjust my posture but sometimes it just slips my mind and I don't. So I figured some exercises would come in handy

I have scoliosis and used to have terrible posture exactly like you describe, it's honestly just a matter of making a conscious effort to maintain decent posture. Stand up against a wall so your toes are touching it -- your chest should barely touch the wall and your nose should be within an inch from it if you have proper posture. At least that's what I've heard, it's from a pretty old book called I Dare You and it has a whole section on proper posture.

Have you ever tried yoga? I've been getting into it recently and it really feels amazing, it's definitely made a difference so far and I only do it for 20-30 minutes a few times a week. if you look up "Yoga with Adrienne" on Youtube she has a ton of really good beginners sequences and videos.

Just tried the wall method and yeah, it seems my natural posture is a bit off. When I pump my chest out it looks like I'm either looking for trouble or trying to show off my muscles like a tool, but I guess I'll have to get used to it.
My mom has been a yoga teacher for the past 10 years, I'll probablyl ask her for some beginner stuff, cos all the weight lifting certainly didn't help me become more flexible.

How severe is your scoliosis? The curve I mean. Mine got so bad they had to do a posterior spinal fusion to correct it or I would've had permanent back pain and lung/heart problems. Practicing good posture helps, but you should probably get it checked if the curve is 45 degrees or more.

it does feel awkward as fuck at first, but after maintaining it for a while your current posture will feel very hunched over and uncomfortable. the goal isn't to perpetually maintain that posture for now, just to progress towards it.

that's cool that your mom is a yoga teacher, I'd definitely ask her for some beginner poses to practice. again,

I think it's around 25-27 degrees but I honestly can't remember, I haven't had it checked since I was in high school. it might be 35. whatever it is, they said I was at the upper limit for what's considered a moderate curvature, but I really don't get back pain or any other side-effects from it and they determined it wasn't going to get any worse than it already is, so medical intervention wasn't necessary. for how bad the curvature is you can barely see it, I guess I got fairly lucky in that regard.
