Hey I never said that. I don't like the idea of unnecessary killing.

I feel like it's better to get rid of people rather than prolonging their end, resulting in them becoming a leech to society.

To be honest I don't understand how someone sentenced to life or death can possibly repay society. They wont get the chance to learn empathy or become a better person, because there's no incentive, they have nothing to gain and nothing to lose. They simply have nothing.

The whole, you killed someone so we'll kill you logic is so far over my head.

My beef with Carlin / Carlin fans is this. You've actually convinced yourself that he is edgy and dark when the stuff that he says will be blatantly apparent to any 15 year old who reads books about the world. Most Carlin fans I know are people who make 0% effort to find out about geopolitics or cultural stifling or religous bigotry and then when Carlin says it, they're like "WHOA MAN THIS GUY IS A GENIUS".

yeah I know what you mean. libertarians in general tend to annoy me so that doesn't help either.

his bit about golf might be one of my favorite stand up bits out there, though.

Didn't Robin Williams have a better one about golf?

But yeah, when Carlin told jokes about society without becoming preachy, he was very, very good.

Am I the only one that really liked how Carlin would open his shows?

His material was goofy, yeah, but my favorite parts were the limerick things that he'd say in the beginning of his sets. Some of them would be like, ten minutes of rapid-fire goofy rhyming shit that was really surreal and cool.

I liked that stuff but it didn't put him in the pantheon of great comics. Unfortunately he is remembered for even less-funny shit like his diatribes against society.

Carlin : Capitalism is evil. Let me keep your ticket money.

Audience: Yeah! We're sticking it to Capitalism by paying this guy fifty dollars and walking out with fuck all.

So a Maroon tinted bird told me that I was relevant once again. To my surprise he meant my name not me. Apparently Mike is some dude who likes to write poetry or something.

... Ill go back to being irrelevant now.

Like, I agree with most of your points. But as someone who only watched his stuff on youtube I really found enjoyment in it.

I feel like analyzing Carlin's work and attributing it to teenage angst in 2015 isn't fair since he is dead and hasn't been relevant in a long time. It's fine to mock people who "discovered" him on youtube and use him as an icon for their own edginess in 2015, I have no problem with that. I just feel what you guys consider to be "cliche" now was certainly groundbreaking when it came out, considering he's been a comedian since the late 50s, and the west was culturally very different back then.
