The card game covers the 2 games. The main difference is instead of 1 faction with many mafia, there is only 1 killer like in the game. And the Killer's goal is to fulfill a Kill Quota. BUT there are also "traitor" roles, different from the Killer and the Students, each with their own goals.
The DR card game also has items that you can use during different parts of the game, including a completely useless Tumbleweed item who's only purpose exists to fake the fact that someone "has" an item.
I've honestly not played DR yet; my brother's the fan doing the translating. But it's formulaically like a Mafia game and I'm sure the fans can appreciate this.
Game's 4-16 players.
