Wouldn't it eventually just get to a point where the human eye can't even register the difference?

I know they have higher resolutions available already. I'm not really gawking that the resolution exists, I'm fawning over a commercially available product that offers to display those resolutions in my house which I'll never be able to afford.

It might, I wonder at which point that would be, though. I can definitely tell the difference between a 720p display and a 1080p display at 40 inches. I think a 4K UHDTV would be pushing it at less than 20-inches, but the larger the screen, the more clearly you can see individual pixels, so at 84-inches, a 4k UHDTV would be a noticeable improvement from a standard 1080p HDTV. It's all about eliminating the spaces between the pixels. Everything looks so much crisper at higher resolution.

Look at an iPhone 4 VS. iPhone 3GS, it's really apparent. I can't really look at an iPhone 3GS these days without getting distracted by how blocky it looks.

Thats only twice the resolution of a 1080 HDTV.

1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels
3840x2160 = 8,294,400 pixels

8,294,400 isn't twice as large as 2,073,600.

Im sure it would. I think there's a certain frame rate we cant register past too.

I know they have resolutions available lol, I'm talking about commercially available solutions though.

My buddy just got a $1500 projector TV for the mancave in the basement, displays in 1080 on the whole wall. I was like, "Well this is roughly like 4 times bigger then any HDTV screen i've ever seen. Wouldn't this mean the pixels would be displayed 4 times larger, and thus not looking as good?". Looks fine from across the room.

Didnt think of it like that. I just figured the height and width was twice the current HD standards.

I was editing my post when you posted this, go back and re-read, I expand more on the thought. "Looks fine" isn't good enough. It's one thing to have a been screen, it's another to have a huge resolution. The more dense the pixels are, the sharper and clearer the image looks. It's hard to conceive without having two comparisons in front of you, I think my iPhone example is a good one for this.

I know exactly what you mean. I was giving him crap because if you walked up to the wall you could clearly see each individual pixel even though it was HD. When sitting across the room it looked more like SD with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Watchable, but it wasn't as awesome as I think he was thinking it was going to be.

We then proceeded to watch like 3 seasons of 3rd Rock From the Sun.

You know dude, in your signature, that quote.

You'd think that that's like an epic hint for us to keep our right to bear arms you know? Like, seriously.

Like, hint hint mothafucka, you lose dem guns, people gon jump yo ass.

But seriously, I got to thinking about it and how in the actual fuck are they supposed to get the guns from us if they do pass something like that? We've got guns, lots, we've got psychos and they don't have enough man power to really take it from us even if they wanted to.
Taking Americas guns would be hard as all legendary fuck.

I didn't know the right to bear arms was in danger. Aside from the usual 'guns kill people' protests and shit.

He never actually said that by the way, just a quote made up in history. Just like whats his face never actually said "Give me liberty, or give me death."

Well it still holds true, if you want to kill America, take our guns yo.

I thought like some time ago Obama was trying some shit with our guns, but probably declined realizing that every pissed motherfucker would end up in a shoot out with the cops.

They'd never actually be able to physically take them. We would probably just get fined for owning them or something. Which would still be bullshit.

Someone I dont know walks into my house, first thing im doing is telling them to get out. Second thing is shooting them.

EDIT: In GA there's a county with a law requiring every resident to own a firearm. And they supposedly have a low crime rate. Makes sense to me. Im not breaking into somebodies house if I know they're packin.

I only watch one tv at a time. I will never notice the resolution because I will never see it compared to anything else.
