You know the Americas are only called "Western" civilization because they were discovered over the Atlantic. It's funny to think that if only it was discovered over the Pacific (and most likely by the Asian cultures), the now called "Eastern" civilization would provide a much different result of the world.

How would it be any different apart from the name?

Well for one the Asian cultures definitely were vastly different in comparison to the European cultures. They probably wouldn't of claimed the land completely as their own considering Native Americans (or I guess in this situation they'd be native whatever the name of the new land would be called) were already there. Instead they'd establish societies and customs around the native ways and at some point probably merge them, creating a whole new set of culture and society. Don't you think modern day America would be completely different to this day as compared to the rest of the world?

Yeah I misunderstood what you said. I thought you meant merely referring to the country as the Eastern world would have resulted in a different place.

But you are right, things would have been different. But we don't know if it would have necessarily been better. We can't claim that Eastern civilizations would have been any more benevolent to the locals than the western one was, given that some of the most blood thirsty conquests have also come from the east. The biggest difference in this case was Christianity which gave them the right to treat the natives as savages. But I don't think the Muslims would have treated them any better. Asian countries traded with each other, but none of them are famous for getting along with each other.
