So a local DJ in my area contacted me and asked for a graphic flyer design to be done. After some discussion and background research, the result of me doing this is not money, but rather her advertisement of my work on her Facebook, Twitter, and even live on her radio station to her 1,000+ followers. This is the best opportunity I've had yet for this area of talent. Hopefully it brings more.

Quote from ExilementOh, cut the shit. You make positive claims despite all evidence to the contrary too, then get defensive and dismissive when you're faced with your own ignorance. Yeah, I'm bringing that thread up again, get over it.
Yeah, and then I admit that I'm wrong and move on with different views. What's your point? (Also, that's old, and I was feeling especially fucktard-ish.)
I already talked about being wrong about things in my last post.
Quote from Exilement
I'm tired of seeing people present themselves with this smug, "scientific" view of the world whenever a religious discussion comes up, but when it comes to real-world issues nobody gives enough of a shit to do any research before spouting their beliefs. These are issues based around data that's easily searchable and points to only one possible conclusion, but you couldn't even get that straight. Empirical evidence actually exists for that topic, but somehow you managed to form three views that were completely inconsistent with all of it.
People do this all the fucking time, including you. But when someone has the audacity to form a personal belief about the unknowable, suddenly you think they're an indoctrinated, delusional fool who has no justifiably rational excuse for their beliefs unless they can give you "empirical evidence".
I don't. I thought I already made this clear. I simply think they're wrong. That's it. You're being very presumptuous about how I act towards religious people. I don't have any illusions of superiority.
Also, it's hardly a "personal belief" if they state it as an absolute fact and demand that everyone else has to subscribe to it too. A lot of people insist that it's not unknowable, but that they know it to be true. (Like the girl Xero argued with.)
Quote from ExilementYou make it sound like atheism somehow frees you from being a judgmental asshole, but it's exactly what's enabling it in your case. Except you think "evidence" is on your side, so you don't feel bad for saying these sort of things. You don't even realize you're doing it, and you deny it when you're called out on it. Kind of a fucked worldview if you ask me.
I was indoctrinated, and as a kid, never learned to question my faith. Only after I came across opposing arguments on the internet is when I started to consider my reasons for believing these things.
I want to make sure that everyone who believes, believes for a good reason, not just because "everyone else does too". There needs to be a choice there. If they're aware of what the opposing arguments are, but still want to believe, that's fine. How does debating or having discussions make me an "asshole" exactly?
Quote from jdoggHow about if the morals that there "delusions" influenced were good? I think you probably agree that the general idea Christianity teaches about wrongs and rights is good, set aside all the sexual rules. So my question to you, is being influenced by a religion to be a better person still a bad thing?
The problem is, religion doesn't give any morals that a normal modern-day human doesn't already have. You could just be a humanist and do the same good things better.
If religion would motivate people to do good, it would be good done for bad reasons.
