I don't get the appeal of joining a social group just because lot of people are on it.

do you really think that's the reason why they join it?

I don't think any of the people you're describing think sharing a few interests with a group makes them a unique individual or "special".

I dunno, they say so when you ask them. and obviously they don't join to a group for that reason (at least consciously) but they all join the same way: Someone goes to that park I mentioned before, he likes the place, starts to go more often, and when he sees other people start judging him because he doesn't like certain stuff, he starts to "like" that stuff until he gets accepted.
It happened the same way to me, but I got out of there instead of assimilate those things assimilate, hehe

I dont get the appeal of The Lottery. Why bother getting or buying numbers. You're not gonna win.

Poperazzi/Celebrities. I truly don't give a damn who broke up with who, or which celebrity is pregnant. It really grinds my gears how some people follow other people's lives so closely.

Idolatry is plaguing the world currently.

I don't really understand the appeal either.

I don't get the appeal of MMORPGs. I mean, they may be fun at first, but it gets repetitive fast and becomes a drag to farm for xp/gold later on. I don't get how people can get to max levels and staying that long.

Power and respect, as strange as it might seem, but just like rich and powerful people are respected irl so are rich and powerful nerds in video games. And it is in our nature to seek power and acceptance from others, not satisfying these goals might cause worry/anxiety and for someone that is a neurotic introvert (majority of basement gamers) achieving these goals might be a bit hard in real life, that's why they focus on doing that in video games.

In a lot of MMORPG's it feels rewarding to finally be a top notch player, especially if the road to getting there was tedious and long. It's tedious and boring half way, but when you hit the goal you feel it's all payed off. When I played World Of Warcraft, there's nothing more satisfying than being able to fly above all the low level players, or just taking them down with little effort when they want to fight you.
I don't get the point of paparazzi and celebrity gossip either. I don't care if my neighbours got married or broke up, so why the fuck should I care if Brad Pitt did?
