The issue is this: it's too easy to make a new account as there is no longer email verification. We can mute and ban all day but they can make a new account in only seconds. This wasn't intentional, it's a glitch that needs to be fixed.

Now im not saying no one is doing there job, I only been around for like 3 days, but i figure they might get tired of making new accounts if they keep getting banned, also cant they do a ip ban? I really don't know what too do about it all I know this needs to be fixed this cant be allowed to continue.

IP Bans won't help anyway to a dedicated spammer, proxies and stuff are all too easy to have access to. Also, IP Bans being given when us admins were barely screened and just thrown the responsibility IMO isn't the best idea.

Using mailinator is almost just as fast.

I'd like some chat commands.

/ban 1h [name] or something is required because spammers are using clears to avoid being banned and there's nothing you can do to click their name (at least, efficiently.)

Actual IP bans would help immensely too. Most places with a chat will IP ban rather than per-account ban for this very reason. Pokemonshowdown is a good example.

Urgblah, the 'good guys' are the ones playing matches instead of wasting their time on typing in the chat.

There is a ridiculous sampling bias with your comments.

Minecraft servers have integrated chat, you can talk about stuff while playing the game, mostly, SE does not. You cannot compare the two chats as if they both equally represent their communities.

I don't waste my time typing in that chat either. If I'm waiting for a game and just so happen to be forced to look at it, that's when I use it.

People I've brought to the game specifically stopped playing because they think everyone on here is as bad as the chat.

To be completely honest, even if I'm wrong about Minecraft chat being linked to SE chat, it's completely irrelevant. The chat was a bad addition regardless.

About IP bans, I assume most players causing problems are too dumb to get qround them therefore it would be a good thing to add. Even if it's only blocking out a percentage of spammers, it's an improvement.

IP bans can have very negative consequences and ban legitimate players.

If email verification and playing the tutorial to the very end can be made compulsory to access the chat then the spamming issue is solved.

that can work. However, it's very easy to find a guy who isn't serious about the game.

The tutorial is not a challenge, it is an intro to the game.
It shouldn't be that hard for the worst of players to complete.

Normal "administrators" of the chat will not gain the power to IP ban.

ok So mods cant ip ban but they can ban them temporarily from the game or from chat box? and when that happens they just go make a new alt and start spamming again. I just throwing out idea because I wana be helpful, another thought I had is put them on mute i guess it would sound like the same as ban but perhaps on mute they can still type in chat box just no one can see there texts, they would get there three warnings before hand and then if they continued they would get muted and not told there text cant be seen by the other players for how ever long the time is.

The answer to your question is yes, but all admins or mods can do is ban them from the chat box, we can't ban them from playing or anything else. We should also be able to mute players that keep annoying the craps out of you. It's a good thing I don't give my code out..

When a box opens in the middle of a game, your hotkeys screw up and you can do nothing about it. Also, when you get enough people (i.e. like 10+, aka WyzDM)...

My secret is to open 3 chat bars with 3 inactive accounts, so any new chat requests will create the scroll button but not force its way open while I play. You can also set your status to offline, as a few others do.
